I know that getting links to your website from a .edu website (university education sites) will boost your google PR ranking. Because .edu site are trusted by google the link to your site is gains more respect.

Getting back to my question, how do I get a .edu blog?, I have read that there are some universities that offer blogs to authors who can write interesting articles. I've searched the net and can't find how to get a .edu blog. Dose anyone here know how to get one of these blogs?

Thanks for sharing with us the link here. To tell you the truth, I've been searching for one myself. That's very helpful. I'll sure consider choosing either one of these to start up a new blog. Now my only worry is to select the right niche and getting good keywords. :)

If you want your own .edu domain, to set up a blog. People can get them and sell them to you. However, they are not cheap. Not cheap at all.

Doesn't the entity have to be an accredited educational institute before they can get one? If you know a teacher you may be able to get one, but as Blue said, I doubt they they would be cheap.

If it were easy they would not have the authority that they do, like .gov, .mil, and the such.

I've seen websites for sale that commanded a higher selling price just because they had links to them from .edu sites. So they certainly have a strong value and are not easy to come by.

Dose a link on a .edu blog hold the hold the same strength as other pages on the same domain?

I have heard that they do, but it may not be true. The G's algorithm is a total mystery, most likely to them also.

In my experience .edu and .gov links to your website are more beneficial. They are more trusted TLD's and as a result carry more weight. So yes, I'd say a .edu blog comment to your website would be worthwhile. Just hope you don't get a run of site, that happened to a friend of mine on a .gov blog, it hurt his rankings.

I've heard that links from blogs can be more beneficial to your site than links from other sites. This is probably because a link in a blog is typically surrounded by text, which gives it the impression of being more authentic.

Why would a run of site link hurt your rankings? A link from any site to yours should not hurt your rankings. But putting inappropriate links on your site to other sites, will almost certainly result in you being penalised by the major search engines.
