As Google advices us to update the site with good and quality content regularly. I am hiring a content writers for my blog, to post at least 4 contents in a week. So monthly i would be adding around 16 articles in my blog.

I just want to know how many pages were indexed by Google. How long it would take to index the new postings. Do i need to work for those blog post to get index?

That is depend on visits and backlinks. You can check indexing of the page by cache: ( landing url of the page)

you can use webmaster tool to see which page of your blog is indexed and which one is not indexed. if some your page is not indexed then you can do social bookmarking for easily indexing.

Add your site in your Google webmasters tools account and that will show the status of your indexed pages. You can do ping and url submission and create back links for your blog posts fast indexing.

Basically depends how frequently your website is crawled by Google bot... If your website is new or fresh , then you have to something to index your article like Bookmarking and all that stuff... Download tool SEO Quake ... it will show all the status of your blog, how many pages index by google, PR of google, traffic rank etc.

This one is the perfect solution to check if the page has been indexed or not and if yes, then when it was indexed last time. You can even check how Google sees your website.
