what is the Difference B/w Hosting and Dedicated Hosting??
Typical hosting plans place your account on a shared server where server resources are shared by many Websites. You'll normally see resource limits within a host's TOS that explain the maximum amount of server resources your shared account is allowed to use on the shared server. Standard and Reseller hosting plans are typical shared hosting environments.
Dedicated hosting normally means that you have a server's full resources for your site(s) alone. This can mean a dedicated server or VPS (virtual private server) for example.
There are other variables such as semi-dedicated, cloud etc. But the above are the bare bone basics of the two.
Simply, Shared and dedicated hosting are like ISP shared/Dedicated hosting Packages.
If any website in the same shared hosting goes offline due attack/problems then it will also shut down your website. But, in dedicated hosting your website in sole responsible for the downtime of your website.
GeekGhost and remonray have given you helpful answers. Shared hosting is much lower in cost in comparison to dedicated hosting and is generally adequate for when you are starting your site. If you go with a reputable hosting company, it is often a good idea to start with their smallest hosting plan and then scale up as and when your site or sites begin to grow and require additional resources. Dedicated hosting is not something you generally need, unless you have a very large site that is attracting huge levels of web traffic.
That can happen and it is something that I have unfortunately experienced myself. However, reputable hosting companies should be able to protect you from that, by quickly dealing with and isolating the impact from the affected site. It would be a good thing to ask a host about before you decide to use them.
The term hosting stands for buying a space over web server of total server (in case of dedicated server only) on rent basis and as I already mention in the bracket you get you own physical server in dedicated type of web hosting. Hosting is Macro term and dedicated hosting is part of it.
If a host runs CLoudLinux this is less likely to happen. However it still won't protect you from hardware issues on a shared server.
You already have very good explanation of this but i'd just like to make an addition.
Hosting is a broad term and it includes all kind of hosting such shared hosting, vps hosting, dedicated hosting and cloud hosting. Whereas Dedicated hosting is part of it and what it means has already been explained by other members.
You get a Dedicated server which is used by only your sites and not shared by any other unlike shared hosting
Hope this was helpful.
