Hi everyone - I just wanted to introduce myself here.

With almost 10 years experience in high tech marketing, I've worked for many companies in Silicon Valley including Apple, Adobe Mozilla, Seagate and Stanford. As of two years ago I have relocated to Santiago, Chile and have been focusing my talents on growing start-ups, and interacting with other entrepreneurs.

I'm currently working for GoBee, a Sydney based company offering practical and high-quality business education instruction for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

In the meantime, I look forward to learning more from this forum and am free to lend a hand with any and all things marketing.

    Cheers!

Welcome to Business Advice Forum Sarah, thanks for joining and posting your comprehensive introduction. You have excellent experience, which is most welcome and appreciated on our community. I've previously liked Start-Up Chile on FaceBook - are you connected with it at all?

Thanks Fergal. Yeah I think my mind is going a little bit bonkers on me lately :p

Hey Fergal - just saw your comment about Start-Up Chile. While I haven't worked directly at Start-Up Chile I previously was working side by side with some of the people in the project when we were doing recruitment for Founder Institute (Chile). It's a great program but in my opinion it will take a few more years to see how many of the start-ups become successful and are acquired, etc...

In the immediate future, Start-Up Chile has changed the culture of Santiago a bit. I've only lived in Santiago for a bit over two years, but even in this short period of time things are changing. Grocery stores carry a more international array of goods (probably due to the needs of the large international population coming in). Lots of new international restaurants have been thriving here and there is a lot of more English depending on the part of Santiago you are in.

While we will wait and see how Start-Up Chile does, I will say that it has become a brilliant awareness campaign for Santiago. Unfortunately when most people think of South America they think about dirt paved roads, no internet connections and the possibility of electricity. Start-Up Chile has branded Santiago (Chile) as a growing tech hub with all the accouterments that you would expect in any first world country. For that I'll always be grateful for the program.

Thanks for all those details Sarah, Start-Up Chile sounds like an excellent program. I hope that it is successful and helps develop Santiago into a "Silicon Valley" of sorts. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to visit some day.
