Deadline at work were no more a problem when I personally started following these point:

    1 Create to-do lists & allot a time frame

2 Review your workload, stay ahead of the deadlines

3 Remember the 80:20 rules, focus on important 20% work then the less important 80% work

4 Set realistic deadlines, don’t try to be Superman!

5 Expect the unexpected; don’t leave pending tasks for tomorrow because it never comes

6 Don’t try to manage too many tasks at the same time; you won’t get one thing write

7 Don’t let your inbox dictate your day; don’t check after every 5 minutes.

8 Don’t get distracted by personal stuff; Keep personal thoughts at home, work at the office.

9 Don’t just go for quick and 'easy wins'; work till the goal is achieved

    10 Monitor your performance

Note: Develop a good reputation so that incase of failure in meeting deadlines at times could be overlooked due to your performance!

good point. However, i would like to add an additional information regarding the point number 4 - Set realistic deadlines
Everyone think that they are setting realistic deadline, the problem is how the realistic deadline being set? most of the people just "think" that is a realistic deadline but not sure how true is it. Therefore, it is always important to have a milestone, the milestone can give idea how much time needs and monitoring the work progress.
