Google's Webmaster Guidelines Update Some Members Should Read

    Recently, Google made some updates to it's Webmaster Guidelines, at least one of which needs to be read by many BAF members. One of the examples provided for links that violate the Guidelines is this one:

    "Forum comments with optimized links in the post or signature, for example:
    Thanks, that’s great info!
    - Paul
    paul’s pizza san diego pizza best pizza san diego"

    In this example, the phrases "Paul's pizza san diego" and "best pizza san diego" are links to Paul's pizza restaurant. These are now officially a violation of Google's Webmaster Guidelines. Before anyone asks, it probably does include links to a client's website in a forum post by someone who is, or works for, an SEO provider.

    Good to know that they are targeting spammers not just those who have emds.

    Thanks for sharing that with us joeroxx, anything that Google does to stop rewarding people for posting low quality content of forums is great. I'd imagine that most forum owners feel the same way.

    are the top sites today really giving the right information to searchers as google would want?
