So they will avoid prosecution, just for the fact they paid so much money? I don't agree with this at all. If they promoted an illegal drug, whether it was an accident/mistake, somebody should be held liable.

That's a big fine, Google might be happy to avoid prosecution but they will not be happy about paying out $500 Million.

    i can't say $500M is nothing to google's wealth :D
it does mean during that time adwords weren't regulated too right?

That $500M will be a significant loss.
Next year they are going to have to cut back on giving staff personalised number plates for their company cars :D

That's really high. But they also need to be wary on which advertiser they will accept on your program.

One thing I noticed in the past when working with rich people is that they are more aware of and careful with their money than people who are not so wealthy. I've seen people who are millionaires do things to save a small amount of money that most people on an average wage wouldn't be bothered to do. I'm pretty sure that Google didn't achieve the level of business success they have, without being pretty attached to their money and that paying a $500M fine will be something that they will feel pretty strongly about.

They only have payed what they earned from the ad.. This is really stupid. It's basically losing nothing + avoiding prosecution. They should have received an additional fee. Not just the revenue they gained from the ads.
