Google Page layout algorithm

    Google officially updated their new Page layout algorithm. Any idea about this algorithm.

    Basically, the Page Layout looks at the amount, or lack, of content, or the amount of ads, "above-the-fold", which would be the part of the page a searcher sees when the page is first loaded into their browser. For more details, try this article:

    Page layout is simply to get rid of thin sites like banner farms for example

    Google's page layout algorithm makes sense from a user-friendly point of view but a top heavy layout does not necessarily mean thin content. It just means that the content may be pushed farther down the page.

    I went to a Google "Adsense in Your City" presentation about a year ago and the Adsense representative sat me down with my site on the screen and told me that I should increase the number and visibility of the Adsense ads, above the fold of course. Shortly after I made their suggested changes, the first top heavy page layout algorithm change was announced.

    Clearly, the Adsense people and the search people are not on the same page. The advice from the Adsense people was essentially what Matt Cutts said NOT to do.
