    We are a upcoming website designing development company. Till now we have been working on organic ranking process. But now we are trying to understand better map listing rules. We would like to get top map position for multiple keywords search string like:
    1. Web designing companies in Mumbai.
    2. Web designing company in Mumbai.
    3. Web Design Company in Mumbai.
    4. Web designing company Mumbai
    5. Web development companies in Mumbai
    6. Web development company in Mumbai.
    7. Website designing company in Mumbai
    The list can be still more, this is only to give you idea as to what kind of variation the keywords can have. Although they are same, but they are having little variation. We want to know exactly what is the factor that dominates while getting top map positions?

    You'll want to change your keywords up a lot when building links and adding content to your website pages and other online properties. Change it up by using different orders and variations like you have above, as well as things like 'Mumbai Web Design Company' - But also try to work in a lot more related terms such as things like 'digital desgin', 'internet design', 'app development' etc. You want to be careful to not over do it with a lot of the same keywords or you may find yourself dropping in rankings or getting a penalty. Your signature for example with 3 very related anchor texts linking to the same site is a bit of overkill. Especially when it will be on every thread you post in.

    There are many many factors that influence the local search results (aka maps, Google places). The algorithms used for local rely on the same organic ranking factors but also have a lot of added factors. Some of the main factors pertaining to local results are:

    • The number of pages that mention your business Name/Address/Phone Number and other identifiable data such as URL. (often referred to as your NAP and "citations")
    • The number of reviews for your business - often found on the same sites as your NAP mentions.
    • The organic ranking score of the web page that is linked from your Google Places listing - usually your main website.
    • The location authority of your business. There are several factors of this and it is much less talked about but very important.
    • Interactions, requests, CTR of your business listing or information.
    • Location prominence score of your business (how close your business is) to the location searched. This is not always the center of the city searched, but can be the center of where the majority of related businesses are.

    You can follow the following steps for local ranking.

    1. Proper category associations - Proper category associations are important enough to be ranked #1 in the survey. During the process of creating your Google+ Local page.
    2. Individually owner-verified local Plus page - Creating and verifying the ownership of your Google+ Local page for your local business
    3. City, state in Places landing page title - Your Google+ Local page should link to a page on your website.
    4. Concentrate on quality/authority of inbound links to domain - Because organic signals play a big part in local rankings, earning high quality links from authoritative sources will help your business to improve its visibility in the search engine results
    5. Quantity of native Google Places reviews - If you earn reviews at too great a velocity, you may find that some of them get filtered out.
    6. Product/service keyword in business title

    I have the same issue with the TS. I created a google+ page with my location and yet it isn't showing up on my targeted keywords.

    Hey Paullejoy, how do you do 2, which is to verify your plus page?

    It is not necessary to optimize your web pages for every single variation of a single phrase, such as "web design company in Mumbai". It is now possible for the search engines to understand that, for example, " web design company" and "web design companies" are similar to one another, and it is highly unlikely that someone searching for one will also then search the other. "design" and "development", however, could be considered different. From the list you have provided, I would choose one for "design" and one for "development", based on which converts the best, and concentrate on optimizing your site for those phrases.

    Below are very simple step which you will have to take for ranking in Google map on these above keywords;

    1. Do ask your circle to post a review on your Google+ page.
    2. The posted review should contain that keyword on which you want to get rank in Google map.
    3. Also there should be a genuine reply in manner of management response to make it work.
    4. Try to cut the number of less star review.
    5. Star rating should be of 4 or 5 while anyone is posting review on your Google+.

    Just focus on any one keyword/domain.
    Google maps search results appear based on the users repetition for your brand. Design, Development, Internet marketing eyc., are different service categories. There will be othet keywords on training also. So prepare your content according to the service you offer and improve local repetition. That helps your business growth.

    You can see the local business listing live on Google by signing into your Google Places account and clicking See your listing on Google. This link will take you to your actual Place Page, as seen by users.

    Google publishes quality guidelines for its local business listings. Think of these as rules, not guidelines, because failure to follow most of them will either keep you from being listed at all OR from ever ranking well in Google.
