If you visit a lot of webmaster forums, you will find that this topic comes up a lot regarding the amount of storage you get etc. However, this is a business forum so lets look on the business side. Do you think free web hosting is good or bad for businesses to use?

I personally think that businesses should avoid using free website hosting companies for many reasons. Firstly, the support. If your website goes down and you get an awful lot of business on a daily basis, you will be losing money. You would expect to be able to phone up and in a couple of minutes, your website would be working again. However, for a lot of free hosting companies, this isn't always the case. Sometimes you are expected to wait 24 hours or even more as you aren't their priority. This is because they want you to either upgrade to premium or simply couldn't afford to hire enough people to give good quality support. This isn't always the case for every free web hosting company but a lot of the time it is. Some say you will get the lowest priority support but if you pay a pound a month, you can get a reply within minutes. That is just an example and it would most likely be more then a pound a month. Anyway, the other downside is advertisements. Not all free website hosting companies force advertisements but a lot do and they can disrupt your design etc.

    Anyway, over to you.

Samalan: Nothing comes free. :) Also, there is no warranty and guarantee of this kind of services called "Free Hosting". When you grow and if the service goes down then there is serious impact.

    Hi,
You always require a reliable and good web host provider whether you are launching the first e-commerce website or producing an informational website. In order to find out a good web hosting provider people usually search on Google Bing, Yahoo or etc Most of them look out for difference, only some will get the result before being late. Both paid and free website hosting have their pros and cons. So in order to decide which one suits your website and meets your requirements. however, you can upgrade your website in the paid web hosting once its demand increases. In free hosting you get limited support, disk space and file size. Once you get these choices, you then have some options to select from. If you are planning to have a file sharing, social or an e-commerce website then free website hosting is not preferred. the selection of any of the hosting depends on the kind of website you wish to create and for how long you wish to continue it. Many webmasters would suggest you to choose paid hosting as it is better in long run and has good flexibility and more options.

I have used free web hosting in the past and it really didn't impress me. The support was terrible, there are many users using it so they make you feel left out of the entire support.

With paid hosting, you will notice that there are a lot of paid hosts there, so people would diverse and choose their favorite. Paid Hosts are usually bigger companies that provide better 24/7 support and reliable servers. This is just my opinion of course, some others see it differently.

For the start-ups, free hosting will be preferable, but after little pushup to the blog and website over the web, then can go for premium posting for better stability in both manner.

Free hosting? Why do you need it? Nowadays for couple of dollars you can get reliable service with all features included and rather good support

I think if you're serious about your online presence spending a couple of dollars a month on a paid plan is worth it. Support is generally better and performance tends to be better as well. I really don't see a quality case in going with free hosting.

Having your own web server = total unlimited control and no ads, very flexible.

Free hosts usually are slow, you have a hsared domain directory (not your own domain name) and there are many limitations on e-mails, there are ads, limitations on web space and administration (some don't offer FTP support, no control panel, etc.).

I recommend getting your own web server, it's an investment which pays itself off eventually.

If you want quality than you don't want free hosting. If you're at the beginning and you have no funds than start with free options but on the long term you will have to make the switch to a paid, reliable service.

Don't go for a free hosting, they do not provide all the features available in hosting like c-panel, bandwidth, database, email etc. You must go for a paid hosting , now a day you can easily get a web hosting for 7 dollar per year with 24x7 online support, c-panel,ftp accounts and with my SQL databases.

The free hosting option sounds decent for a brand new site with no traffic. The most important question would be, hows their support? I always compare hosting support to the support at host gator which is top class.

There was some attempts by some people to have hosting companies funded from ads with free services for customers - they all failed, because good components and connections are just too expensive. Performances are too poor, uptime is poor etc...

Better use some shared hosting on established companies than any of the free ones.

Nothing is FREE in this world. If any company offers services like this, they also try to get paid from the other site. So, beware of such a deceiver.

Free hosting has never been a reliable solution, their server are overloaded with downtime, cpu resources issue and many more..
Instead of going for Free - search for economical service provider.. you'll definitely find many in Marketplace and as well good offers along.

A free hosting solution usually doesn't allow to ensure powerful performance of mission-critical projects.

Personally, I think it looks very unprofessional. It would give a bad impression of a business if you do that. Kind of like printing a business card on dirty paper - and not in an artistic way. ;-)

Spend at least some money and gain some credibility.
