Has anyone here tried using either e-mail harvesting or e-mail advertising?

Care to share your experiences (pros and cons) in using any of these two methods?

    :dunno:

I've not used either but I do know that the CAN SPAM Act of 2003 in the States effectively makes email harvesting illegal. From what I've read in the EFA Analysis of the Spam Bills 2003, Australia bars that too except under certain conditions. Best tread carefully.

If you are planning to use an email marketing campaign it is best to only include people on your list, who have opted into the list. Otherwise they will probably consider your email to be spam. One good way of building your list is by offering to email something free, to visitors of your site. Make it clear to them that they will be signing up to your email list, when they are applying for the free offer.
