Hi, as the algorithm keeps on changing, does Google consider meta keywords in ranking a site in SERP?

The meta keywords tag hasn't been used by Google as a ranking factor for quite a while now.

Google has stop considering meta keywords long before but there are still few search engines who are considering meta keywords. So, we should not avoid keyword tag !!

The meta keyword tag is no longer used by Google. But Google still uses the meta description tag.

I believe that they still do. However, the importance of it have decreased over time and with the changes being implemented by Google to have better SERPs on their users.

I agree with Mark. Google still consider meta keywords, however it's importance is some what decreased. It should not be avoided.

Forget about the meta tags because Google has stopped using them long before. Instead, concentrate on creating awesome content that your readers will love to share.

Meta tag is ignored by google since long time ago because the google search technology is smart enough to read the keyword automatically without the help of the meta tag. However, meta description is still playing an important role at this moment

Metatags are important, but what really matters is quality content and quality backlinks.

Google is not using that, but other search engine may use it. The effort to implement keywords tag is easy, insert 1 - 3 keyword will not harm a site.

Google does support several other meta keyword tags. This meta tags page documents more info on several meta tags that we do use. For example, we do sometimes use the "description" Meta tag as the text for our search results snippets. Google has ignored the keywords meta tag for years and currently we see no need to change that policy.

Good just categories the site by watching meta tags otherwise meta tags not take part in the ranking.

I don't really trust all the things Google or Matt says, although in some cases you need to hear them first so that you can make a decision whether to believe them or not. In this case, I still think you need to put in meta keywords because there are still the thing about tagging websites. Although, don't expect that this will boost up your rankings or make any significant changes. I'm just saying that it'll help in some way.

I respectfully disagree with your comment Mark,

Google has stopped considering meta keyword tag since more than 3 years. I strongly recommend reviewing this official announcement about it http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.in/2009/09/google-does-not-use-keywords-meta-tag.html

    Hope it will help !!

I also never trust blindly what Matt Cutts say all the time, i usually take action based on what i learned and achieved in my last 6 years of experience.
