Today all people misuse the this social networking site. Add fake id and chat, some are wasting time and spend hours and hour to do foolish thing. Also office today Facebook is totally banned. It is right no do personal chat in office time. Bad impression is showing to head.

Going to sound like a worthless question, but I assure you they are not.

It's banned at my job and I'm glad. If it wasn't people would be late coming back from their breaks and they would be too distracted to do their jobs.

I think Facebook can be banned at work because it would just distract as Jerlene said. It would take much of time doing nothing and just chatting and surfing through profiles and liking stuffs if you don't concentrate on your job. It can be very much risky.

I think it doesn't matter Facebook allow in office or not. It depends on employe loyalty with their company.

The bigger company is, employees are more likely to waste their time on social sites(as their job is not so crucial and visible for others) and it should be at least monitored.

Hello. Yes, FB should be banned in office because when people are using FB they don't do their work properly. So, as far as I am concerned, FB should be banned in office time.

We don't ban it. We let our techs surf at their leisure. As long as they are doing their jobs (answering tickets quickly, politely and completely) we don't mind. Happy techs are helpful techs.

If you can ban facebook on your IP address. Then you can ban facebook at the office as well. But if people are using facebook on their mobile data package, then you can't do anything about that.

It is meaningless that any company think like that. It is a social website they may have many things to share.
That is the most common thing.

Well usage of social networking sites diverts attention of employees, due to which most of companies are preferring to ban it, so that more concentration can be paid on work then on chit chat. But how can anyone stop its employees from using their android handset for social networking activities. But some rules needs to be imposed to improve the working condition.

What browser are you using? I am not familiar with any browser that automatically loads Facebook when it is opened. As far as I know it would have to be in your "favorites" or whatever your browser calls your bookmarked sites, and even those are not visible unless you actually open the individual bookmarked page, or view the list of bookmarked pages. The only other way I know of is if you set it up to open when you boot up your computer, with an icon on your taskbar. I'm using Mozilla Firefox on a Windows computer. Don't get me started with Apple.

Maybe they should so that employees wouldn't get tempted to waste their time on social media sites during work hours. :)
