The algorithm for both Google and Bing are different that's why they both have different process of optimization.

They are naturally two search engines and each of them has its very own ranking algorithm. Sometimes it is a surprise to find top-ranking websites on Google that do not have strong positions on Bing, some webmasters claim Bing still favors the on-page items like keyword density more than Google.

On the other hand, you can find thousands of sites with more or less similar positions on Google and Bing, this means the on/off page elements such as content plus links have helped their positions improve on all search engines.

When it comes to algorithms, they are not that far different from each other. The thing that separates them is their guidelines. See below.

    http://www.bing.com/webmaster/help/webmaster-guidelines-30fba23a

    http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35769

Now, In doing SEO, they are almost the same when it comes to ranking factors. And take note, there are many search engines out there that almost the same with Google and Bing and Yahoo, when it comes to ranking a site. It's just that, Google is considered as the most sensitive of them when it comes to providing information to users.

So, doing "GENERAL SEO" properly will surely make your site ranked to those search engines. Not only for Google. So I think the only difference of doing seo for bing and google is that you are actually working to gain from different search engines.

We know that both are Top search engines, they have own criteria for search engine optimization. Google regularly changing their algorithm and penalizing duplicate content websites on the other hand with few efforts in SEO we can easily rank our website on Bing.

Google and Bing are complete different in their algorithm. The off page procedures work for Google often does not help us in Bing. But some how the on-page optimization are same.

But both of them are high sensitive for Content and back link. So working with unique fresh content and high quality back links may help in ranking for both the search engines.

Both rely heavily on your on-page optimization such as having keywords in the title, in the URL and on the page. Bing has a much stronger preference for exact match domains.

When it comes to links they are a bit different.
Google applies their PageRank algorithm to determine which pages on the internet have the most authority. Then those pages have more voting power with their links.
Google gives more weight to links from other websites.
Google filters low quality sites using their Panda and Penguin algorithms.

Bing (in my experience) appears to treat links the same whether from your own website or from different websites.
Bing does not have the Panda or Penguin algorithms filtering low quality sites and therefore ends up with lower quality SEO manipulated sites ranking higher.
Bing is very susceptible to link spam abuse for boosting rankings of certain pages.

    * Google enjoys huge link popularity. It also has better link diversity and anchor distribution. Bing, being a relatively young search engine, has yet to capture the attention of the public.
    * The linking pages to your site play a major role in receiving a high ranking. Google expects you to have back links from pages that have relevant content. Google also places importance on pages that have keywords in the body of the page while Bing prefers keywords to be in the title tag.
    * Google stresses site link popularity, diversity, relevance, content and anchor distribution whereas Bing emphasizes high page ranking, large site pages, capitalized terms and the presence of keywords in the site’s URLs.
    * Google considers inbound links to be very important, unlike Bing – it pays attention to H1 tags, Meta descriptions and titles.
    * When optimizing your site for Bing, pay attention to your XML sitemap and update it regularly.
    * Forums fare better in Google than in Bing. You might even find some forums appearing at the top of Google’s search results.
    * Google doesn’t give extra credit to .edu or .gov sites. Bing, however, seems to prefer sites with page authority. These sites would appear on Google’s first search results page only if they are informative.
    * The age of the domain is a big draw for Bing. Although it’s likely older sites have more back links, Google doesn’t emphasize domain age.
    * When you search for a vague term that may have more than just one meaning, Google is likely to pull up the most popular websites as the top search results. Bing, however, is more likely to list local results first.
    * Bing, unlike Google, likes sites that have been created using Flash.
    * Google is far more advanced in its understanding of words and their meanings. Therefore, it does a pretty good job of throwing up results with content related to keywords. Bing brings up results that match the keywords verbatim.
    * Google is likely to consider your site even with messed up URLs. You can throw many parameters, codes and directories in your URL and get away with it. With Bing, however, you should keep your URL as clean and understandable as possible.
    * You will find Bing brings up search results that offer diverse variations for the keywords. Bing, therefore, works well for websites that have a combination of keywords.

Google is popular than Bing. Google is useful in PR and updates for a website. Google's analytic tells us about our visitors and source. And when we jump to off-page optimization we can see clear differences between these 2 search engines. Google is ahead of Bing in many respects.

    1. Ignore bing.

Focus on the Gold. Ignore the Bronze.

    2. Bing is NOT the world's second biggest search engine.

    YOUTUBE is.

    Surprise.

Focus more on YT than Bing.

Actually, YouTube is not a search engine in the same way that Bing and Google are, so a website cannot be optimized for YouTube. However, a video on YouTube can be optimized for Bing and/or Google.
