People assume savings and investments are the same thing, though the reality is that they can never be the same. While savings include savings bank accounts, Recurring Deposits, Fixed Deposits etc; Investment are those options where the rate of returns is more than the rate of inflation.

Investment is risky because it depends on the market's ups and downs, but when ever it is taken care by experts, then it does make a better sense. Where as savings is under own control that can be utilized any time.

Yeah, exactly they are different. You invest your money to get, the more rate of returns. But saving is all about fixed deposit or recurring deposit in banks.

saving is putting the money away in a safe place with the intention of using the money in the future
Investing involves putting your money into investments--such as stocks, bonds etc with the hope that your money will grow, but with the possibility that your money could shrink or disappear.

Savings is money that you are saving and possibly gaining interest on if you have it in a savings account. The interest isn't much, but a savings doesn't require you to risk your money. An investment, puts your money at risk and you can lose some or all. You are taking a chance to gain more money faster.

Both are different in many terms, both are not the same thing, savings are always put to the safest place, saving is having low risk place to put your money. Investment means buying any asset that you expect to grow in value like to buy property, gold and shares, the risk in investment is very high since the value may fluctuate, it is best to invest the money that you won't need in future.
