I'm wondering if creating a Wikipedia article for your blog is a good idea?
We all know that Wiki generates lots of traffics and visitors but it's a high PR site so putting our link there will be beneficial to our site.

Anyone have already done this for their blog or site?

A link from Wikipedia to your site will carry a lot of authority and will help your search engine positioning.

It would be better if you could get someone else to post an article about your blog. Wikipedia don't like articles posted by people to promote themselves or their own business / website. No. 1 on the Wikipedia:List of bad article ideas refers to articles about "Yourself or your organization – including a band of which you are a member or employee, even if either is notable! See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not here to tell the world about your noble cause."

wikipedia can generate good traffic to your site but it wouldnt help in PR because wikipedia is nofollow.
Wikipedia is quite straight in adding link into their article.
However, you can still try on it if your site has very good content

So this means that self promotion isn't allowed in Wikipedia?
How will they know if the article you are creating is about your own site? Or that you are self-promoting?

No, WikiPedia don't like their site being used for self-promotion. I don't know how they would know if an article is self-promotion or not. However, self-promotion is very easy to spot on a forum, so I'd imagine it's pretty similar on Wikipedia.

Its best to make your site appeal as a company. They are more willing to take on board companies then websites. SEMPO for example has a Wikipedia page. They started off as a website and developed into an online business/company.
