In CPA(Cost Per Action) if someone completes a desired action as required by the merchant, then you can receive certain amount of commission. It can be filling up a short form, signing up as a member of particular sites, receiving free trial for particular products or services, etc.

In CPS(Cost Per sale) if someone purchases a product or service you recommend from under your affiliate link, then you can receive some commission.
