    I have noticed many VB forums remove original copyright notice with VB version and link.

    My question is replacing following with original notice is allowed ?

    Do you mean altering the copyright to not show the version number but still retain the copyright to Jelsoft? As long as visible copyright is in-tact it should be okay (unless they pay the license branding removal fee then they can remove the copyright in its entirety).

    Yes if we replace following text

    "Powered by vBulletin®

    Instead of (Original)

    Without link and version No.

    You'll have to keep the links intact I'm afraid, unless you purchase the copyright removal fee. Removing the links from the copyright will break the TOS, but I see no issue with removing version numbers only :)

    Quote from the official FAQ:

    Thanx Richard :)

    We can see many forums who has removed the link, having only text as mentioned above.

    Sorry Richard, but I don't believe that's actually true. vBulletin's manual states;
    You will probably have noticed that we don't have links to the vBulletin site on this forum, I've referred VB staff to this site many times, regarding questions on the forum and they never had an issue with the copyright, which I believe is fully compliant with their requirements.

    In addition it's a good idea to remove the version number from the copyright notice on your forum. Knowing the version you are using, makes it easier for hackers to understand and exploit the security weaknesses of your forum software.

    Thanx Fergal, I was more interested to know about version number removal.

    Edit: BAF is also upgraded with 4.x.x (latest version) ?

    That goes against their updated FAQ. Well done IB, well done. As if they couldn't confused customers or potential buyers any more than they already have.
