yes, yes, and yes. Regardless of what business you want to start you will want to get a website. 10 minutes and 20 bucks is all it will take.

Website work 24 hours for a business. Setting a business web is too easy, setup a .com site can be as long as 10USD. If you worry about technical problem on web, you can even setup a blogger site or facebook fanspage.

Yes, it is better if you have your own website for your business. But if you donot have ever experience of it then you can register your blog on blogspot or wordpress for free.

Well, a blog would actually do for you. There are a lot of blogging platforms that you can use to start as a small consultant business in your chosen Nurses Registry that you are talking about.

It's a plus if you get a website. Just make sure that you consider the following first:

    - What is the nature of your website (what does it do)?
    - URL of the website?
    - Kind of platform you want (wordpress, joomla, etc)?
    - Get a host for your website
    - Does your website have content?
    - Will you put a blog or news section?
    - Keyword Research
    - and so on...

I'd always create a website. But if you're not comfortable doing this yourself or have no interest in outsourcing, social media gives you an instant opportunity to use tools to build a following and allow potential customers to contact you.

As other posters have mentioned, a website wil offer numerous benefits that you shouldn't overlook. I'm assuming a big chunk of your clients will come through referrals. What better way to allow those referrals to learn about your business? And nothing is more professional than having a website listed on your business cards. Plus, a website gives you a wide variety of ways to advertise and drive potential leads to your business.

There are obviously some exceptions, but any legitimate business entity should have a website ;)
