I am trying to sell out our switch, uninterrupted power supply and the server cabinet itself. I was hoping few people in the business will actually be interested to check and ask about the items but no one ever asked how much they will cost so maybe we can negotiate.

If you are just starting to be in the business and set up the office network, would you recommend buying new devices?

Buying second hand equipment is a great way to save money, for a new business. One impact of the recession is that as more businesses have closed or downsized there is more quality second hand equipment available to buy.

Maybe you could try selling that UPS on eBay?

The only I tried though is selling it in a local forum. I have already set up a store in ebay before but its a mess. The problem with ebay is that most shoppers who go there are knowledgeable enough to choose which powerseller to buy items. And like my account, I'm far being the power seller. And I have to start the price being too low to attract bidders. And if no one bids, I end up giving them away for just few bucks.

I've already created an article about these server items and so maybe I should add few lines what would convince anyone who have just set up an office.

You could also try selling on some local classified sites, or put little advertising cards in local businesses or notice boards in your area. Are there any specialist sites for selling that kind of equipment in your area / country.

Great advice given by Fergal. You must definitely post some classified ads in local sites and newspaper. This would definitely give you some response.

Ahm, shouldn't this be on the Member's Ad and Marketplace forum section?

    But anyway ..

    Answering your question,

It depends on the company or business if they can afford to buy new devices, but in most common situations, start up businesses either rent, or buy second hand items. Though it is a bit risky on their part [like knowing if the devices is still in good condition, if its cost-effective, etc.]

Selling it online might not be easy, so best advice would be to do local traditional marketing. Make brochures or small leaflets about your item, distribute them as well as post a copy on your FB [in some ways an online stuff for your marketing]

Ask friends and tell them to refer to you when they knew someone who might be looking for an affordable power supply, etc.

    Goodluck! :)

I did post these to our local forums and websites and to facebook pages but didn't attract buyers. I even tried attracting them that our company's configuration is still in the router and switches. don't work still.

If I start to be in the business and set up the office network,I will buy second-hand device because it can save a lot of money. I think second-hand devices should have very good market. You can post your adds at your local market place, especially second-hand deal websites.
