    Hi business owners.

Just wanted to pick your brains!

What makes you buy advertising space?
What attracts you to a particular site?
Do you advertise in local newspapers etc?

Is there anything else you look for/do when promoting your business?

    Thanks in advance!

A confidence that the purchased ad will bring quality targeted traffic to the site I'm advertising.

When advertising I prefer to advertise on quality sites that have a good standard of design and provide good value to their visitors. Once I feel the quality is right I will consider the quantity of visitors that I'm likely to get from the ad.

Not at the moment, but I did local newspaper advertising for offline businesses, when I was in employment in the past.

I like to avail of free publicity opportunities whenever I can.

Some of the things I take into account when buying ad space are traffic, niche, and placement. Does the site I'm going to be advertising on have good traffic. Is this site catering to my niche? Will it be seen to people on the site, or is it going to be hidden in the background squashed together with other ads, or placed somewhere on the page where it will be difficult to be seen.

Target audience is the main factor, if it is a gaming site and I am selling books, then I ain't gonna go far right?

Good design, heavily used site, decent price (not over priced like most).
The main factor I look at is traffic, because either way, I can still drag hits to my own sites, so if I do not lead many sales or any, traffic is a bonus, and I will gain something.

Newspapers, not been there just yet.

    1. A need to increase brand awareness or traffic/vistors, thought it's better to advertise when your business doesn't need it, in my opinion.

    2. I have made mistakes in the past with the types of sites I have advertised some of my previous sites on to be honest, and I should really focus on advertising on sites with the right niche.

    3. No, the types of sites I own means this is not really appropriate at this stage.

    4. I look for opportunities to help other business' and webmaster's as a way of building goodwill, but only with sites and owners who demonstrate the same qualities I believe in. (like BAF)

Do you think that? Mass Media advertising is similar to the spam on the Internet?

The investment volume. But less effective.
