Hello all, I'm interested in bringing over a certain product from one country for resale in another, I'm unsure what kind of steps I'd need to take, is it as simple as buying x amount of the product from one country and opening up a business to sell it in the other.

    Thanks

Has the country you are planning on importing from, got an embassy or consulate in your country? If so, these can be great resources in this type of situation. Contact the embassy and ask them what are the procedures involved, they are usually keen to help people who want to do business with their country.

Hi ,Fergal. This is amy in china.
    I am coming back again.
I love this forum too much.
I will come here often when i finished my work.
Also i want to say something about emir's question.
Firstly of all, you must like making business , it is better you have the experience, especilly the foreign trade experience.
After all the import is a little different with doing buisness in your contry.
You should know the basic trade term ,know the processing of import.
Second, you must know your market very much, know what prodcut could be salable, also you can source them from another country.
And the buying price is good.
    Then you can make money.
Otherwise, you can not sell these products, you will loose money .
Anyway, choosing a product is very important.
Bcoz all of the next time, you will busy for this product.

    What product you can choose?
    1- you like it
    2- you sell it before
3- a new product must be salable in your market

    That is my advice.

Yes taking help from embassy is definitely a good idea, but at the same time you need to go through import procedures to transfer your product from one country to another.
