What are the best freebies to give when someone lands on your site?
They must be digital in content and automated for retrieval.

    My list:

Freebies to offer for an opt-in:

    Desktop pics
    Newsletter
    Fact sheet of useful content
    Discounts
    LInks to useful information
    mp3

    That's all I got...:dunno:

Free ebooks are usually given to visitors of a business related site. But this can also be used on other niche sites like computer, technology, and graphics.

Ahabdune a lot would depend on the type of site you wish to promote. Do you have something specific in mind.

You could also consider free templates, hosting, domain names, vouchers, coupon codes, logos and promotion.

It depends on your visitor, you might consider to make a survey on your website to find out which freebies your visitor prefer, then only make decision

I really like that idea. But what if they like to have a freebie that you can't even give away for free? What will you do?

If your visitors want something that you can't give away for free, then perhaps you could give them a voucher towards it or even a free ebook that gives them tips on how they can get it.

You should also set expectations when conducting the research. For example, you might say that the free offer cannot be something normally sold for over $10 or you could say that it must be in some way related to the topic of your site. Alternatively, you could set up a poll and ask visitors to chose from a set number of options, obviously you would only add items to the list that you know you can offer for free.

I prefer "Ebook and other useful reading materials or instructional book". I think that would be great and good enough as freebies.

Another option to consider is a free entry into a draw / contest for something valuable that your visitors would really like to get.
