Today many of us are really interested in working online. But its very difficult for us to get job at the first time because no one will trust easily. But, if we don't loose hope and always work hard we will surely get some projects. But again, you are also in risk because you can't be sure if they are not paying you.

So, its very difficult to build up the relation. However, when you have skills and then have some knowledge you can show it and get the job. After you have build up relation with some people then you will be progressing soon. To find trusted people you can go to site like : getafreelancher or other. Some will pay even 50% upfront.

It can be difficult to build your reputation, when you are starting out in business. What some people do is complete some free work for a charity they like. It will help the charity and it will help you to build your portfolio and client testimonials. Another approach is to do work at a lower cost in the beginning. There are lots of people who will tell you that this is not a good approach. However, if it helps you build your experience, your client base and your portfolio you can gain a lot from charging lower prices at the start.

Are you starting in an particular area of online work?

Good luck with it and please keep us posted on your progress.

We can fine many trusted online workers as we all know that everybody needs money. But most of the sites which promise to pay are scam. So, it is very hard to make up your mind and join a particular website.

As fregal said, its most important to do hard labor even free of cost or in lower price than you deserve at the beginning. talking about myself, i have done much struggle in my first days to online business. Even now i have to work very hard. But i am confident that within two years of time i will be perfect and can rest somehow.

I am currently giving training to few workers and hopeful that they will be ready within next two years so that i will have some free time. Teaching language is very difficult here because people here speak Local Language Nepali. But i am trying my best.

    You're quite right.

Without any skills, you're like an egg. People will eat you up. ;) Having a particular skill is very necessary however having multi skill will always put you into the flow of money. Of course, if you've some internet skills there are always free lancing jobs waiting for you.

Of course, start your service by showing them up to every people. Try to get appreciation, try to build respect in a community like forum. That's how you'll be improved. And it should never be hard, and I would do the same and doing same. ;)

I wish you good luck with all of that Kris, I hope it works out well for you. Are you teaching English in Nepal?

It's good that you are looking two years' down the road. Very many people never reach their full potential because they expect success too quickly and give up before they've given themselves the time needed to achieve their desired success.

Yes fregal, though not me, my father is teaching English in Nepal. He has been working as Chief of a government college for more than 25 years and is specialist in English. He is totally committed to help the villagers who don't have any idea about English language. Whoever comes to his contact has to speak English and this is his rule.

And yes, we should always have patient because no one can be successful overnight. Who dream so are really fool or lacking the correct guideline. We should motivate them to be patient and make them realize the reality.

Your father seems so helpful and dedicated. As we all know that the most spoken language in world is Chinese. However, English is an official language which is not so hard to learn and easy to communicate. Even people of China learn English and almost all country's people learn it. You father is doing good work kris1911.

    Just read through this post;

I spent the past two years networking within the industry (credit/collections), gaining good contacts and becoming stronger in areas I was not as well versed in.

I offered my services for free to a University in the UK and lectured there and helped them re-write their course material in credit management. I also started to write articles for the trade journals in the hope that some would get published (I managed to get a few in some quarterly magazines).

It was hard work and added to the hours I was doing in my day job, I had to get and have had full backing from my wife as we have two young children. It has cost me funds for travel to conferences to learn and network, time away from my kids (3 months in total last year) and a case of stress from working 14 hours a day, 6 days a week for 9 months - but the effort has been worth it.

The social sites, as mentioned in other posts, are a good source of business and contacts if used correctly.

My company is young, but due to my networking I have good prospects and have signed some deals I didn't think would be possible and have the chance to get a couple more in the future from good contacts.

Short answer: be prepared to do whatever you need to do to promote your business. Forums like this are a great way of learning from others & networking. Don't be scared to put a little more money into it than you thought you would have to if it means the rewards will be greater, but don’t take wild risks & always make sure you have 110% backing from your family, it REALLY helps.

    Sean

Thanks for sharing that with us Sean. Your story is inspirational and a reminder of the hard work and sacrifices required to create and grow a successful business. People who expect success to come easily will give up before they get there.

I totally agree, I love getafreelancer site. I have done many projects and earned money with them. The good thing in getafreelancer is that you can leave a review about your employer and your employer can leave a review of you. So the more good reviews you have, the easier it will be to get more projects.
I think they are the best freelance site.
