We will be upgrading the forum software that runs BAF, tomorrow - Thursday 4 Nov.

The forum will be offline for approximately three hours from 12.30PM GMT.

Please wish us good luck and bear with us while we are making the upgrade. Thanks for your continued and ongoing support!

Fingers and toes crossed it all goes smoothly Fergal. Regardless of how well planned an upgrade is, there's always that potential for a small quirk to rise it's ugly head when the change goes live.

If users do experience issues post update (outside of the expected downtime), feel free to drop by the BAF Facebook page and let us know.

Thanks Paul, great idea. I'll post updates on Twitter and FaceBook if there are any delays.

Thanks Brandon, yes that's the plan.

It's always one of those hold your breath moments, isn't it? :) I'm sure all will go fine. I'll keep fingers and toes crossed for you too.

Great idea on updating the Facebook page! And why you're there, why not like it? :D I just did that myself.

Seems all has gone well. However, the forum is a little slower than before now and obviously we're still waiting for the new theme. A few things need to be fixed too, like the banners in the header as they're out of place etc.

Altogether it seems to have gone well, though. :)

Is it noticeably slower than before or is it a very marginal difference? I can't say I've noticed any meaningful change this end, but if I had to say I'd suggest it's actually a touch faster than before.

As you say, still work to be done to get the design tidied up so thanks in advance for bearing with us as the changes are made (never know, as a silver lining the overlap might actually end up bumping the CTR for the banners).

Other than a one-hour delay due to the inevitable unexpected events, the upgrade went well. A few things I should mention:
    • The latest version of the software will be slower, a known issue amongst everyone who runs a vBulletin 4 powered site. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it. :(
    • The new theme... will take some time to arrive. First priority is to make sure the site runs well, and has all the features and functions that it had before.
    • And speaking of that, there a few features/functions that are not compatible with this version of the software, so we're out of luck there too.
    • It will take a few days because of my schedule to get everything tweaked and straightened out (the header bothers me, it will be high priority!), so please be patient as I comb through the code to fix it up.
    • ....which reminds me: this version of the software is written very differently than the last version, so it will take longer to bring things up to speed.
Having said all that, please feel free to mention any issues with the site that you come across. I am probably already aware of them, but just in case I missed something, tell me anyway! I won't change the password on your account, I promise. :p

Not an 'issue' as much as a design tweak request for the future, but I personally find the default "Thanked by" layout very obtrusive and far larger than is needed. If we can get the size of that reduced down at some stage, it'd certainly save me cringing from time to time.

Great job on the update CBI Web, the hard work is appreciated.

Yeah, it's not really slow, just a little slower than before, but I run a vBulletin4 forum for a while before and I know it's slower than vBulletin3.

Everything seems good at the moment, will post in here and let you know if I find any issues though. :)

Cool. We got a better theme. Well, I don't worry much on speed.
The first noticeable thing is the header. The Adsense Ad box covers the log-in form (I have to resize my window to be able to log-in).
And the banner/logo must be tweaked to match the new header's background color.

Other than that, it's ok. The design can easily get used to. :)

This theme is only temporary until the new one is finished, I believe.

I heard there was a theme selection so that members can choose the theme which they prefer.

We don't worry, everything will happen someday :)

It's a bit disturbing first time, but with time this will going good.
