Has anyone tried podcasting and works for thier users?
For what purpose? What do you mean by "works for their users? A little more, clearer detail to your question would be helpful.
You meant, using podcasting for information/workshop for website users? Or as a marketing method?
I have a client actually who asked me to set up a podcast for her site. She teaches local dialect for tourist in our area. Now in the podcast, she will upload wav files for her students. I'm not sure if it will work for her though. But if for example you have a travel site and you upload wav files telling your ideas about the place, political issues and etc just like an AM radio, will the podcast help?
What does she hope to achieve from those podcasts? E.g. increased traffic, increased sales or just the opportunity to spread her message?
I actually don't have any idea about what she might upload there but she told me she'd upload free lessons there, maybe to gain more cleints. I'm thinking of doing it for my travel site and talk about the culture and places and play the local music here in our city I live in but I'm not sure how would my forum users think of it. Or i might just waste my effort creating it.
