Must be cheap. Please help.
HostGator would be worth a look, they are reliable and have good customer support. What type of site do you require hosting for? Do you have any specific hosting requirements?
If you are okay with having hosting and the domain at two different locations then googlin' for coupons for the domain would be best. You can usually find a .com/.net/.org for around $6 somewhere.
As for hosting I will agree with Fergal on HostGator. I would reccomend HawkHost myself but the first plan on HostGator is very, very cheap for it's price.
Depending on what you need I could offer you a cheap hosting plan on my HawkHost reseller account for around $1 a month.
I'd also second karoshio's recommendation of HawkHost, I use them to host one of my large forums and they are great. Their uptime and quality of customer support are most reliable.
I'm also using Fatcow which is cheap like Hostgator. I certainly like these both
ByetHost.com is a good host. I used them for years with little to no problems.
Zymic.com is a pretty decent host.
FreeHostia.com is good, too.
USHost247.com is also great. This is one of my current hosts and I can't imagine switching from them.
All of the above have free hosting available and great support.
For me hostome.com is best web hosting service provider! They provide cheap but quality web hosting!!
Oh, I misread the first time. I thought it said "free" not "cheap".
HostGator, FatCow and SiteGround are also great web hosting providers.
Whatever you go with make sure the host is using Cpanel to manage the hosting. If not then it is more trouble than its worth trying to administer a website through a badly designed backend.
http://www.hostome.com/ , still I'm using their service; affordable and quality service provider!
I've just had a terrible experience with iPage so I definitely wouldn't recommend them! They seem to come up top on many web host rankings but they played me around something fierce.
I'm looking for a new host now too and I was just about to post a thread like this. I'll be looking forward to the replies on this thread.
What happened with iPage? I have a website hosted by them and I have had no problems.
I wrote an article on the criteria that I use to select webhosting. Hope it is of some use.
I found a coupon code for Hawk Host which gives 50% of the initial order - whts50v2
When I signed it was claimed that they supported moodle 2.0.2 but in it wasn't available when I tried to install via simplescripts and if I wanted to keep up to date I would have a big problem because they don't have PHP 5.3.
I had put in a support ticket asking if moodle 2.0.2 and 5.3.x was available and they told me that they aren't going to install PHP 5.3 any time soon and they especially wouldn't do it for just one person. As they could not support neither the environment for the software I need I asked for a refund and decided take my business elsewhere.
They then tried to rip me of by saying I had used a domain registration credit when my domain is registered elsewhere. They add sitelock when you subscribe but afterwards tell you this is an outside service and they will not give you your cash back. After a few angry but reasoned responses they decided to give me back all my money.
I have to say that the support that they claim is award winning is a crock. Having to wait up to 38 hours for a response is a joke. The live chat function never seemed to work until I had decided to cancel my account.
It's taken me a week to get to the end of it and now I still have to wait a week or so to get my cash back.
The two I would support are Hawk Host and Empire Hostings. I have used both hosts and have had an incredible experience with them. Both have reasonable prices, but Empire Hostings would be the cheapest. Both have great help. I have used each one six months and I have witnessed very minimal downtimes.
I think word press is the cheap hosting domain. Presently ia m using it.
Cheap hosting domain? What do you mean?
Have you tried easyspace or 5quidhost.co.uk?
I use Midphase and Siteground. Both are moderately inexpensive. No email support for SG though, but otherwise OK.
