Here are 7 etiquette tips to remember:

    1) Be on time – always try and arrive five minutes early. If you are running late call or text. If the meeting is in a café get there early find a quiet table out of the way of traffic and noise.

    2) Greet with a firm handshake and smile – start the meeting looking and sounding confident

    3) Carry business cards - if you are meeting several people for the first time a good tip is to place the business cards given to you, on the table in front of you, in the same order as they are sitting. You can refer to them if you forget somebodies name.

    4) Be prepared – on average meetings are scheduled for one hour so have an agenda ready. If you receive a meeting agenda in advance do your homework and review all necessary material.

    5) Always be in control – at times you may feel frustrated and are not being heard but remember to stay calm, control your breathing and speak in a low voice. Don’t do or say anything you may regret later. If necessary ask for a quick break to compose yourself.

    6) Put away all devices – it is extremely rude manners to check your phone, iPad or laptop during a discussion. Keep your phone out of sight or place it is on silent or vibrate.

    7) Dress like you mean business – regardless of your business, dress appropriately. The last thing you want is to turn up in jeans and everyone else is in a suit. Now it may not be necessary to be in a three-piece suit; but aim for business casual, at a minimum.

Etiquettes are the most important aspect of any business meeting and it reflects depth of your involvement in your task and seriousness to find solution and discuss further course of strategies.

Dress and time- most important aspects because it is the parameter on which you can you be taken note of unless untill you are a declared " Outperformer" ;)
