The best one I've had is someone refusing to pay for an App I made them because the were "too saddened by the death of Michael Jackson". They were in mourning for two weeks before I extracted my fee from them

1) Last excuse I heard for non payment debt was unavailability of funds to be transferred in my account
2) Th best excuse I heard was the person wife withdrew all his money from his account which made him unable to refund my payment. lolzz
3) I used for non payment like please accept my apology for unable to refund your debt as the company is in its shutting down stage.

The best reason I ever heard for non-payment of debt

I worked for an online Article Writer and he has to pay me around $150 by end of last month but he did not. The reason he said was the most ridiculous reason I ever heard. It was - "I told you I will pay you through cheque but you wanted me to pay through Paypal. Now I am facing technical problems in creating an account with Paypal. You see... that site is not opening for me." I then asked him to send the cheque as an alternative. Now he says - "I already sent you the cheque to your address. I wonder why you did not receive it yet. Strange!" By now, I figured out that he is trying to scam me and hence asked him to directly deposit into my bank... Let me see what excuse he can come up with. Whatever it may be, I am not leaving. I am determined!

The last excuse I heard for non-payment of debt

One of my friends had to pay his debt back somewhere around last month and fortunately or unfortunately I was in his house that day. There was a call at his mobile from someone for which he asked his wife to pick up and say that he met up with a Car accident and he is hospitalized.

The excuses I (or my company) make actually varies based on the situation and the person I am excusing to. Some of the repetitive execuses I/My company make and that really works are:
  • I am on Vacation and will be back after a week. Please expect a delay in my response.
  • I have already sent you the cheque. Please check and confirm.
  • Recession chucked me out of my Job and I can not afford to pay you now.
  • I ran out of cheques. I have applied for it and will issue you once I get it from my bank.
  • I am sorry but I lost the invoice. Can you please send me a copy once again?
  • One of my close relatives passed away. (I don't use this very often as I am scared what if it really becomes true)
  • There is no one to sign the cheque here - As far as I know, my company uses this often.
  • Cash flow problems - That is the money allotted for every month (out of which bills are paid) is lesser than the total of the billed amount. Once again, this is one of those problems my company uses as an excuse. They say this and add to it - "Hence, we will pay you next month!"
  • We can't really say when it will be paid as the person who can authorize and issue cheques has lately resigned.
  • We have received your cheque but with no signature. Please wait till we get back to you
  • So, do you want my business or what? I won't scam you. Be patient (Lol I know it's harsh but my company uses this kind of approach to some of it's vendors and sub-contractors who are new to the field)
  • We are changing banks. Please bear with us
  • Your invoice is in query. You may have to wait!
  • At times I hear the people respond as - "We understand your problem. We'll look into it and ring you back". I bet they don't.
  • You pay is on the way. Sorry! (I am pretty sure when they say this they would not have even sent the cheque at all)

• The last excuse that you heard for non-payment of a debt.

"Work is not of good quality" was the excuse heard from last buyer who purchased article from me. Apart from day job, i'm also writer & programmer. I have seen many users from digital point forums outsource work to cheap writers and not pay them by making some excuses. Some of such middle agents write horrible english and are not good at english but instead they talk like donald trumph tone "i'm not happy wth ur wrk, need better qulty". etc. When asked for money for work done so far they come up with excuse of quality. When you take job from digital point forum users make sure that they pay at each step, else they'll simply suck your time and will use you for their work at low pay. Many buyer will deceive you by saying that do this small work as he want you to do long term work, even he'll ask for low charges. Force him to answer your questions about him like who is he, what he do etc. Many people from india, pakistan & Philippines are acting like middle agents and trapping new writers for low pay and when it comes to payment they give vague excuses like "work is not good and etc" and they themselves write this in very poor english. I'm from india and i know there are many such middle agents cheating people by becoming buyer but in fact they're middle agents. Such people are ruining way of new writers and buyers image from specific country.

The best excuse

This guy owed me (and several other people) affiliate commissions so he came up with a story that he and the whole family were at shock because his younger brother committed suicide by jumping off a bridge. To add more credibility to his story he even gave the bridge's location.

Apparently he never recovered from the shock because I'm still waiting for my money...

The last excuse

This guy scammed hundreds of people with the excuse that his domain registrar's website was hacked and he had his domain name, his website and his Paypal account stolen therefore he couldn't pay anyone.
