How much for a great E-Commerce?

How much for a great E-Commerce?

Like Walmart.com .. that’s something I'd like for my retail business.

I'm not talking about the design, just the features and get a design that fits with my brand.

    That depends.

Are you going to build the site yourself or hire someone to do it for you?

Are you prepared to use something like eBay or Yahoo Merchant Services?

How many different products do you want to list?

What features will the store have?

There are free open source ecommerce platforms available, such as http://www.oscommerce.com/

    Hi Chris,

I think those site's are self designed so you won't find such features and designs in one script. I think if you are looking to start a shopping site (E-Commerce) then I would suggest you to checkout the scripts in the market might you get the features you are looking for.

I think I have a big list of scripts and I have tested some of them on my own sites.

    Free Scripts
http://oSCommerce.com - It is free and very good but it won't have the features like that site.
http://zencart.com - It is also open source and it is created by the creators of oSCommerce but it has more features then it.
http://opencart.com - It is also good and easily customizable.

    Paid Scripts
http://viart.com - It has paid and free both but I think you should check Paid they would have some of the features.
http://xcart.com - I used this but left it because it don't have our countries payment gateways but this script is extremely good.
http://livecart.com - It has very good designs and easily Customizable from Admin Panel.
http://magento.com - Multi Store (A Mall) making feature.

Thanks, If you get any good one please share with me.

    1. Don’t know depends how long would it take to build one, and depends if I hire someone that can build it in the right amount of time, money, and gives me everything I ask.

    2. I may use paypal, if not I don’t know. I really want to use my own service to avoid the fees.

    3. At the start, based on my current supplier, about 2500 as of this time that’s the amount I would need to start.

    4. The features that’s on newegg.com and/or walmart.com.. Everything.. I want to have an very easy website with the same quality features as giant ecommerce sites.

If there isn’t any script's I can just add or whatever, then I may have to have a firm to work on it.. If so how much you guys think I may have to pay for one like Walmart.com and Newegg.com ?

Much more than you need to pay, and the system would include a lot of extra functionality that you don't need. The best way to start would be to use one of the open source scripts or paid scripts listed above. If your grows substantially and your chosen scrip doesn't provide the functionality you need, then you can get a more complex script.

    Hi,
As I already told they have there own very professional and experienced designers so it would be a lot for you to do such designs, I would suggest if you want same site then go to any freelancing forum of designers and tell them you will pay them and they design a site with all the features of Walmart.com and newegg.com

Magento is the good one. But you need to keep up your users very friendly....

    OFFTOPIC

If you think about Online Retail Shop / E-commerce business, you need to think about your budget and resource.

    1. How much investment you have? (There are BigFishes over there who won't let you in through adwords and paid campaigns)
    2. How big your resources are? (To promote organically for all kind of your products, you need to have really a good marketing team)
    3. How big your warehouse / drop shipping contacts are? (Fast shipping is the key to online retail shop... To do so, you need to have dropshippers / warehouses in the areas that you want to promote)
    4. How trendy is your products? (Trend is most important thing in online retail shop. For ex: You cannot sell PS3 Games as the new trend will occupy for PS4 or newer version)

These are are simply a notes. there are lot more in the ocean.

Oh lol, really you need to make plan before you leap into online retail shop / e-Commerce.....
