    Hmm. Baidu is a China-owned SE, and as far as I know, it is a privately held SE that the Chinese government controls - meaning all sites that shows in the database are controlled and filtered to only those that they allow.

    Probably the problem would be, Baidu can make use of contents like on our forum and probably scrape it out and use it as their own unique. Am not actually sure though. Any one who knows a better idea of it?

    So they can make a copy of this forum and filter out what they don't want, to make it available to local viewers?

    Precisely, as mentioned in my post here that's what happens to your content. Obvious copyright infringment,.. but sadly what can you or millions of other website owners do? Easier just to block them.

    As far as adverse effects by blocking baidu, you'd have to weigh that vs how much current traffic you're getting from that search engine. (google analytics will have that answer for you). My guess is little if any. (at least that is what's common among my fellow website owners).
