PageRank: HomePage PageRank is the top keyword difficulty metric.

PR is the best metric we have for keyword difficulty.
    1. It is not the PR of the page that matters as much as the PR of the website and the only useful metric we have for this is the HomePage PageRank.
    2. When the HomePage of a website is competing for a keyword, Google boosts its effective PR to about 4.5. In a study of 5,000 keywords (50,000 top webpages on Google) 94% had HomePage PageRank of at least 4 (64%) or they were HomePages (30%) -"Domain Authority: The Top Two Factors On Google: A Study of 50,000 Webpages in 5 Countries". High positioning for keywords depends not only on the PR of the HomePage (website authority) but relevancy which depends on page content and the anchor text of incoming links.
If your website has low HomePage PageRank compared to the webpages on the top Google search results page for your preferred keywords, you have virtually no chance of top page positioning. HomePage PageRank is the top metric we have for keyword difficulty. A website should target keywords that are in range for its website authority and gradually build its authority so that more difficult keywords come into range.

    Hello,
Essentially, Page Rank is designed to indicate a page’s importance, and it does so using the global link popularity of a page as a measure. In simpler terms, this means that Page Rank gives us an indication of how many pages are linking to a given page, and the quality of these pages. Based on this, Google determines how important the page in question is, by giving it a rank between 1 and 10, where 10 is the highest.

Pagerank shows the ability and popularity of website. In today era, pagerank has not any importance rather than search engine pagerank.

Page rank may be important now but Google can change their policy anytime they want. Seems like social signals are picking up strong recently.

PR may only show your authority with other competitors and websites but it does not actually guarantee you good SERPs on G at all.

The higher your Pagerank the higher Google will rank you, normally.
If you get Google on your side that's when you get more visitors.
Say that there were two websites, yours and someone else's, in the same search query.
If you're a PR3 and someone else is a PR1 it's likely you will appear higher on the search results.

Having a high PR doesn't really mean much but if you are getting links from websites with a high PR, these are classed as authority links (PR7 and above).
