    Key Factors, Functionality, Content, SEO.

Thought id mention I see many people saying one of their first is the web design looking great, this is by far the least important, People care about being able to access the information they want quickly, most don't give 2 hells what it looks like, a good looking website will however make visitors want to return or buy from you. Content is 2nd most important since without good content you don't have good SEO, Good SEO and Good Content = Site visitors, regardless what your site looks like.

I'm a programmer but i'm a designer, too. I think the most important things in web-designing are the usability of your site and the system of navigation of it. Aren't they?

the design of your site is very important to your theme. The theme should be related to your niche and the services you have must be shown at the top before the design or logo

True, true. Sometimes making sure your website looks good only serves to make loading slower, navigation cumbersome, and the whole experience just a lot of work, and people won't stick around too long for that. Save the aesthetics for last and focus on functionality first.

You can grab more attention by having more stuff on your pages. Design your content simply. Web designing requires years of knowledge to be able to deal appropriately which includes browsers compatibility.

I'd say the biggest factor would be the changing landscape. New devices, new platforms, new presentation technology, and new expectations for functional design. It takes a lot of energy to not just keep up, but take advantage of new options. I'd say web designers are going to have to work harder than before to do great web design, even while the bar is lowering for web design in general.
