This is a really good opportunity for members. But how you will get the idea about how much real members we have referred. Because it is not good to invite a member using our referral links.

Thanks for that. If the person chosen works hard in the position, they really could learn a lot about SEO and website promotion.

Good question. We can use referral logs, Google Analytics and also measure how much busier we become after the promotion work has started.

    Fergal,

Would this be something of a minimum wage position, and would there be any age requirements?

There are no real age requirements, my main priority is that the person can do the job. I'm asking people who are interested to tell me how much they would charge per hour and I'll hire the person who I feel offers the best value, which is obviously not the same as the lowest cost.

    Hi Fergal,

The main reasons I joined this forum were:

    1) The level of useful professional advice (including your own helpful guidance). It's great when the forum owner plays an active role

    2) The high turnover of fresh content

    3) The layout, presentation and its general robustness

    4) Its popularity in the eyes of Google

    5) Its international perspective

I can see that you have been very innovative in making this a successful forum so far. To go that extra mile and to attract more business experts it may be an idea to introduce a simple mechanism for deterring junk posts. For example, if someone posts up some rubbish the admin could maybe click on an icon to take points off their post count. Alternatively, it may be worth having a look at the SEO chat forum to see what they do on there in terms of awarding and devaluing reputation.

For the SEO work, it might be an idea to state the key terms that you want to rank for, in which positions, on what search engines and for how long. You could maybe then get people to bid for the work and pay out on a results basis. I would also think about advertising the work on forums such as the SEO chat forum where you should find the right expert at a reasonable price and you can get a good idea of their reputation by how well they are ranked.

    Cheers - Mike Dove

Hi Mike, thanks a lot for your valuable suggestions and your kind words on BAF.

We've updated our policies for allowing members to have signatures recently and this is already helping to reduce the number of low quality posts on the forum. We also have an infraction system that gives members infraction points, if they make poor quality or pointless posts. When members accumulate enough of these points, they lose their ability to post on the forum - obviously the vast majority of our members post helpful content on the site and infractions are only used to help keep the spammers out.

I'll definitely have a look at the SEO forum you mentioned, to see what we can learn from there, thanks for that.
