I've personally never used YouTube to promote a website.
Have you used it upineter, or are you considering using it to promote a particular site?

I've considered it, but at the moment I'm basically lacking a camera. I've hear some people had quite some success with that. Look at the number of views of popular videos. If they are funny, entertaining, interesting people will like to watch them.
If I had a camera I would do like 3 videos, add my websites adress at the end and just upload them and then check for results. Maybe anyone with a cam can try.

Yes, I've also seen a lot websites that use youtube as a promotional device. I guess they are taking advantage of the adage, "To see is to believe.". If you have a gaming website, then showing video footages of the games in action would be a very good way to promote your games. If you have a GPT site, then you can also show proofs of payments so that the viewers will see that you have a legitimate site. If you have a travel site, then you can show the viewers some tourist destinations and scenic videos of places of interest.

Yes, Medias are the quality and successful ways to promote your website more often.
Uploading a video files that is liked by many people such as videos related to funny, sex, magical, celebrities videos and adding your website at it will be alot beneficial for you. Youtube as everybody knows, is a popular video website so definately it will help alot.

Upineter also mentioned about video advertising of software tutorials in youtube DEADMAN. Since you're into selling your software, this kind of advertising will also be good for your business.
Maybe I'll also give youtube video advertising a try one of these days. I'm also planning on selling my cakes online in the near future. :)

... a rapidshare premium downloading service...
What type of video did you make about that?
Any chance of a link?

I never thought of using YouTube for promoting a business. I think it would look like a scam especially if its a financial company posting a sketchy video haha

I would suppose that if the video was professional looking and was relevant to the content of your site, showing the URL of your site in the video would be a great way to promote your site and it shouldn't look like a scam.

Now, does anyone in here actually have a video camera? If Yes, please just video anything related to Your website and upload it to Youtube. I'm really interested in the results.

The bad thing is that it's getting more and more difficult to distinguish scams from genuine websites nowadays. I think that scammers are even much better at marketing their schemes than others. I've been looking into some work-at-home opportunities a couple of days back, and by looking at their websites and videos, it's difficult to distinguish which ones are scams and which ones are not. Most of the videos I see appear to be professional made and not crappy looking.

.. it's difficult to distinguish which ones are scams and which ones are not...
Unfortunately this is too true. Two big signs of scams are offers that appear too good to be true and require an upfront financial purchase.

I've used it for a website in the past but it didn't work out too well. I think the trick is to put in some other keywords to things that people search a lot, like a band and have a song that they have made on your video.

I used to do Youtube advertising till about 4 months ago, and I got devastating results. Traffic to my site went up from ~50 UV/day to ~1000 UV/day within a week. Unfortunately I can't share anymore information about this because I used this method in a blackhat scenario.

That's an excellent result from YouTube advertising, Shinobi.
I heard about Fred (http://youtube.com/results?search_query=fred&search_type=&aq=f) yesterday on a national radio programme. The radio presenter stated that many new TV productions would be delighted to get the number of views that this 16 year old kid has achieved.
One of his videos has been viewed just under 6 million times. A few of his other videos have had over 4 million views. It's amazing to think that a 16year old can upload videos for free and get this level of exposure. I watched the videos out of curiosity and found them very annoying. I can only imagine how valuable a link in one of his videos would be.

Wow. Truly amazing. A video that's been added 4 days ago already has over one and a half million views. He must be a really popular kid.
