Now back to the business at hand. What kind of website do you have? It would be good if you can share it with us. Also, try reading this thread (http://www.businessadviceforum.com/showthread.php?t=655). You can get some general ideas on how to promote a website.

Jabbar, It would be excellent if you have mentioned what type of website you own and there could be some specific ideas that we could give you promote your website.

However, you can promote your website from various ways. Like Blog, friends, exchanging links in forums / websites can be helpful. There are also some free Web Listing Directories that will list your website for free. Publicity is needed to promote your website. Have some contents of user's choice and the website should be user's friendly. :)

Hi Jabbar, welcome to Business Advice Forum and thanks for joining. You will get more helpful and specific responses on how to promote your site if you provide some info on the type of site you want to promote.

If you are outsourcing your website promotion you will need to agree specific targets with the company promoting your site. These targets might be in terms of unique visitors (obviously care is needed to ensure that they are quality visitors), number of new memberships for membership type sites, ad revenue for sites that generate their income from advertising or number of sales if it is an ecommerce type site.

These targets can then be measured and monitored on a weekly or monthly basis. If your website marketing team is not reaching the agreed targets you should ask them why and then take corrective action.

Write squidoo lenses, hubpages hubs .
Publish articles on ezinearticles.
take part in link exchanges.
Try Bux.to kind of advertising.
Participate in Yahoo groups and tell the group members about your website.

Again all this might take too much energy and time. It is better to outsource your work.

Promoting a website is not easy task, I've to fully believe. Every hit website begins with small traffic. Search engine is a next factor that most people who don't know about your website. Through search engine, many people can get to your website but your website should be on the basis what customers need and providing some for free are best ways that you can increase traffic. When one has something from your website, and another too needs then he/she can simply go to your website for it.

You can try submiting your website to various search engines and web-directories. If you are really in need to promote online, then register at forums and promote their if they allow your to advertise, and quite often do that reading their TOS. You can go to popular websites and blog and have your website mention there that can add plus visitors.

The effective I see is link exchange and banner exchange, if you do these with other hits website then probably a chance to make traffic. Investment is must if you really are looking for it's high promotion Also your website should have interesting and useful contents that many customers and people look forward for.

At last, all the best for your website!
