Why can't we have images in our signatures.

Fergal, please explain.

Thanks.

Thanks for your question EvanP. Personally I feel that images in signatures are appropriate for some forums and not for others. It's my opinion that they are not appropriate for a business forum, hence we don't allow them here on Business Advice Forum.

Well i think this is a rule that should be reconsidered...

Mine is a business forum too and I turned images off. Allowing images is an invitation for all kinds of SPAM, inappropriate content and nonsense.

I don't think images are needed. Also, business discussion wouldn't look too good with images cluttering up the flow of discussion.

Agreed, I like it the way it is now, it works well with the forum and it's content.

Well, Fergal is right. This is a business forum and puting images on signatures is not really business like. It can be applicable to other niches but not good for business forums.

I've seen it work on business forums and seen it look tacky. If images are to be used they need to be controlled tightly and it really does depend on the type of businesses that use the forum. Personally do not see it working on BAF (currently).

I know, i see where your all coming from now.

This just wasn't something i was originally aware of, that's why i asked. ;)

Well, on BAF's current setting images have been enabled.
Maybe Fergal could disable to use of [IMG] tags on one's signature.

The best is , it saved alot of Bandwidth and specially good for those who are coming to BAF with Limited Internet package.

I also agree on this. Although I doubt the website's bandwidth is an issue as most images aren't too heavy on the size in kb/mb

I don't like Images in sig, and they are not at all fit in a Business Forum.

Hope Fergal takes some actions on it. :(

I don't believe this has happened, i believe it's just the Staff who are allowed to use [IMG] tags as i don't see it on my signature page.

Really? But I kinda saw that before I became a mod...
And to Sahil, you could've blended the bg of that pic to BAF's bg. :p

Really? Can you confirm it once again? Or Fergal, can you confirm it.

Signatures are not currently allowed in signatures. This rule is applicable to all members and staff. I hope this clarifies the issue.

You mean Images? :P

That's good, I also don't like Images in signature, as they make it look bad.

This Good decision to not allow images in Signature

It look's ugly

I agree with the decision to ban images from signatures. There are many people out there that will put something in their signature that others would find offensive or in poor taste. Check out almost any car enthusiast forum to see what I mean...

Images on signatures are best done in a entertainment forum.
And I don't think it's ugly. It just don't mix well on business sites like this.

I agree that they should either be kept at a minimum (say 500 x 100 pixels) or not allow it at all. If people want to advertise in their sigs, which people on a business forum mostly do, then they can with just links.
