Smoking has been a practice as early as 5000–3000 BC. It's a just folklore that medical sectors couldn't even do anything in spite of the global cigarette-smoking warnings.
Has anyone heard about a new revolutionary cigarette called ECIGARETTE?
Here are some facts about these:
Smoking Everywhere Electronic Cigarette
Looks like a traditional cigarette, feels like a traditional cigarette, tastes like a traditional cigarette, but it isn’t a traditional cigarette. It’s just a a tar-free way to enjoy smoking!
Smoking everywhere E-Cigarette
Is an electronic smoking device or an electronic cigarette which is also known as E Cigarette or Ecig. It is a non –flammable product that uses state of the art classy micro-electronic technology which provides smokers a real "smoking" experience without the fire, flame, tobacco, tar, carbon monoxide, ash, stub or smell found in real cigarettes.
Smoking Everywhere E-Cig
Offers smokers a tar-free way to enjoy smoking and the freedom to smoke most everywhere. The smokers still get their nicotine, but don’t get the side effects attributable to tar which contains real tobacco.
"Absent some 3,900 chemicals that tobacco cigarettes have, the e-cigarette or electronic cigarette has only about 20 chemicals that are already in traditional cigarettes, and most at a lower concentration"

Sounds costly though :-)

I came across a news story today about a gentleman who believed that cigarettes were going to be the cause of his death. In an effort to help others avoid smoking he requested that smoking kills messages be featured in his hearse. You can read the story and view pictures here (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20100302/tuk-anti-smoking-advice-at-funeral-6323e80.html).

What's a cigarette kit, Is it an inhaler?
craig105
Sat 10th Apr 2010, 23:26
electronic cigarette kit
Kit Includes:
1×Electronic Cigarette
2×Battery
5×Atomized cartridge
1×Charger(110-240V)
1×Power Line
1×Instruction Manual
The atomized cartridge is composed of an inhaler and a liquid container. The liquid container contains nicotine diluents which are ready to be atomized; it does not contain ingredients harmful to human body, such as tar and carcinogenic substance. The inhaler and liquid container are disposable. According to nicotine content, the atomized cartridges are classified into four kinds: high, medium, low and zero. Cartridge with high, medium or low nicotine content are only used as the substitute for cigarette during the process of smoke abstention, and the cartridge free of nicotine is for long-term use.

Thanks for the explanation craig105, do pubs where there is a smoking ban, allow there customers to use one of these kits?
craig105
Sun 11th Apr 2010, 21:30
Yes since there is no second hand smoke from them. Over here I think some states have banned them though and the government is not that big on them since if people were to go that route they would lose out on all that tax money.
Theres a large forum dedicated to e-smoking here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ I'm not affiliated with them but it does show how popular it's getting.

from time to time, but only when im drunk, i find it makes me a little more pissed when i smoke.don't find it addictive tho :\ dunno why, i just find it makes me unattractive (when sober). I don't have anything against smokers though, its a lifestyle choice, some people choose it, some people don't. I don't find it fair how the government tries to bully smokers into quitting when not everyone wants to quit.

No, I am not smoke...
smoking is an addiction more powerful than dependence on alcohol, heroin or even cocaine! One simply needs to consider that no other drug is self-administered with the persistence, regularity and frequency of cigarette smoke. At an average rate of ten puffs per cigarette, a one to three pack-a-day smoker inhales 70,000 to 200,000 individual doses of mainstream smoke during a single year.

No, I dont like to smoke....I just hate smoker...:mad:
but some people say...
1. Smoking gives them more energy.
2. I like to touch and handle cigarettes.
3. Smoking is a pleasure.
4. Smoking helps me relax when I'm tense or upset.
5. I crave cigarettes; smoking is an addiction.
6. Smoking is a habit.

Hi Lukepedru,
Sorry to hear that. By the way, I have also a friend and she doesn't smoke but I was very surprised to find out that she suffered from lung cancer. And because of this, I somehow doubt the idea that smoking is the only major or famous culprit of getting LC. Have you heard about radon (http://blog.taragana.com/health/2010/03/31/radon-in-residential-buildings-can-cause-lung-cancer-21169/) as one of the silent causes of LC. Still, I wish to know more about this element.
Please get well soon.

Smoking is not the only cause of lung cancer and people who have never smoked do get lung cancer. However, smoking does cause lung cancer, smokers die younger and live unhealthier lives. Smoking is bad for you, don't do it.
When someone who has never smoked gets lung cancer, I doubt if they ever say - I wish I'd smoked.

Only the occasional cigar; 1 / week or so, tops. Funny, in all the many (mmaannyy) years I've been enjoying the now-and-then cigar, I've never once felt the slightest yen for a cigarette.
Every once in a blue moon I'll dust off my pipe and have a bowl or two of Old North Sea, or something else picked up down at the Pipe-n-Cigar shop.
Okay, now my work motivation is shot for the day, and it's not even lunch yet ;)

I've never been a smoker myself but I know some people who successfully gave up with the help of Allen Carr's "Easy Way to Stop Smoking" (http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Way-Stop-Smoking-Non-smokers/dp/1402771630). Maybe it could also work for you.

Do you smoke? Even if I wanted to, I couldn't due to my asthma. I know it's possible to smoke with asthma, but it is a lot more dangerous.

I'm not a smoker but when I've suggested a cutting down approach to smokers I know they say that it doesn't work for them and that the only thing that does work is quitting completely. I'm delighted to hear that it's working for you and I wish you every success with getting off them completely.

Unfortunately, I do smoke. It's not something I'm ashamed of admitting, but it's definitely something I need to stop. I have been smoking for 2 years now, but I do regular sports such as Football and Basketball and I also eat healthily. I have tried patches, the nicotine chewing gum and even the inhaler, but I guess the habit is just too strong. However, I am smoking less and less each day and eventually I will stop.

Good luck with it TheNova, the fact that you participate in sport should provide a strong motivation for you and make it easier for you to quit.

Most people know the long term effects of smoking include lung cancer, emphysema, cardiovascular diseases and premature ageing. While these can be devastating many people don’t worry about them because they don’t seem like an immediate threat. It’s important to understand in the short term smoking cigarettes can be every bit as dangerous. The following are 6 of the most dangerous short term side effects of smoking:
* Increased blood pressure
* Increased heart rate
* Narrowing of the arteries
* Reduced amount of oxygen the blood can carry
* Carbon monoxide levels in the blood rise
* Creates an imbalance in the demand for oxygen by the cells
What Are Long Term Effects?
Here is a list of harmful health effects smoking can have throughout one’s life:
* Cancers
* Lung diseases
* Heart disease
* Cardiovascular diseases
* Stroke
* Osteoporosis and weakened bones
* Circulatory problems
* Ulcers
* Premature aging
* Damage to the fetus
* Low sperm count and impotence
* Spontaneous abortion (miscarriage)
* Decreased lung function
* Bronchitis
* Infections
* Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Let’s look at a few of these more closely:
Cancers
Most people are aware of the dangers of lung cancer, and according to the Surgeon General 90% of cases of lung cancer deaths in men are caused by smoking, and about 80% in women. Smoking is also the cause of the vast majority of cancers of the mouth, larynx, esophagus and bladder. It also causes cancers of the kidney, cervix, stomach and pancreas. 30% of all cancer deaths in the USA are caused by smoking.
