Come here and share some examples of very simple marketing schemes that are now a huge success. Mention too the reason why it's now a very huge success. Ok, I'll start.

Google - When it just started, it's marketing plan was very simple. They made their very simple search page without any pics or any animations so the loading time is very fast even from a dial-up connection. Because of this very simple marketing plan, it's now the number 1 search and portal site in the internet!

My experience has been that the most simple business ideas are the most successful. By keeping an idea simple it's function is very clear and it can be very user-friendly for visitors / users.

It's only a small example but the busiest site I've ever owned is http://www.timemachiner.com/, which has received lots of free publicity and thousands of unique visitors every day. The idea behind the site couldn't be mus simpler.

The example of Google is an excellent one, the basic idea was to provide access to links to as many websites as possible, a very simple concept really.

Yes, I definitely agree with you Fergal. The idea for www.timemachiner.com is so simple and quite unique - just email and the recipient will receive it in the future :) By the way, I think it would be good to put in a CC and BCC too in timemachiner...

Another example of a very simple marketing plan is Nike's "Just do it" advertising campaign. Now when you hear people say "Just do it", you immediately think of Nike. It's also a good way in encouraging people to have a can-do attitude and that nothing's impossible!

I've been thinking about some local examples of bricks and mortar business simplicity today. I've known of some very fancy restaurants with the most ultra modern interior design, high quality chefs and excellent customer service provided by their floor staff, who really struggled financially and eventually closed down. On the other hand I've seen basic fast food take-aways flourish and make huge profits for the owner.

I've seen bars in a good area of town and again with modern fit outs, struggle financially while run down bars in rougher streets appear to be always busy and taking in good cash for their owners.

Sometimes it is a little difficult to reconcile these things.

Knowing your target audience is a must. Demographics is an under utilised part of the marketing plan.

More people fall in to the middle to low income areas, so establishments targeting these people usually do well. Keeping a business small, as in the case of your examples, is better in the long run, as the number of clients you will have is relatively small.

Well this is really true. I've been reading up on marketing plans and saw the example of Dell.

Dell's simple marketing plan - "Sell Direct!"

With this very simple marketing plan, Dell has managed to sell direct to the general public without going through middle-men or retailers. Dell has now gained number one position in computer sales!

There is one more example of a simple website, Rapidshare. Just two clicks and the file would be uploaded in a couple of minutes. It's the most popular file hosting website and most of the people use it everyday. It's easy and fast because it's simple.

Another very great example is Youtube. Their's was very simple, share your videos on the net and get to watch other people's videos as well.

Who would have known that Youtube will get a lot of following and be one of the top ten most visited sites today?

It's another great example. Youtube is the leading video site on the net. I found it on the net that Youtube's Alexa Traffic Rank is 2. . More than google. Google is 4.

Alexa's Traffic Ranking vary from day to day. Today, Google's is ranked number 2 and Youtube is ranked number 3.

Another example of a simple marketing plan is ebay. The idea was simple, bring the marketplace to the internet. Now, people are even getting rich by selling stuff or selling by consignment in ebay.
