I recently saw Avatar in 3D at my local cinema. It's excellent and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. The movie captured my attention right from the start and held it throughout the three hours. The movie is so interesting and entertaining that the three hours flew by and I was surprised at how quickly it was over.

Have you seen it yet? Did you enjoy it?

It is 3 hours long? =o
I am actually going to see this after hearing what you have said.

Now aren't there claims that the writers copied Pocahountas?

I feel like I'm the only one who hasn't seen the movie. I heard it's pretty good especially in 3D. I hope I have time this week. It also won in the Golden Globes, right?

Yes indeed, I was happy to hear this morning that it won well deserved Golden Globe awards for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Director.

Avatar is the biggest blockbuster movie of the decade. I have seen this movie four times in 3D. It is great movie and special effects in this movie is excellent. James has worked nicely in this movie.

This is one of the best animated movie I ever seen. Cool story line as well as how did Sam Worthington do his part. Then next is the Clash of the titan. He rocks my world (Sam).

...how did Sam Worthington do his part... .

I have to agree, he was brilliant and his acting performance really made the movie come to life, his character was very interesting and watching the movie made you want to get to know him better.

I concur with everybody. It is great movie of this times especially special effects and 3d effects. I heard there is a documentary in discovery or somewhere to show Avatar in making which has the interviews of the important contributors and etc., I like to see that and get to know more of their challenges they went thru during the making of this movie in past 10 years.

Being said that, I was really surprised to see some creatures resumbled from jurrasic park and the story line actually has some touches towards our old Indian movies. I actually wrote in detail in my blog at moneyreallymatters.com - Is it worth spending millions?. (http://moneyreallymatters.com/content/avatar-it-worth-spending-millions)

Please don't take me wrong but I feel may be more effort can be made to create somemore originality to the story would have been nice. :)

kristenspring, Avatar was ten years in the making, you might have to wait a while for the sequel to come out.

I'm sure it won't be years again to make it because they all have the system and computers to remake it again all they need is a story plot.

Haven't seen it...
Now that you say it, I might have to actually.
Even though it's not on my local cinema anymore (and I can't see it in 3D) I might have to get the DVD ;)

The DVD was released today in the US to coincide with Earth Day 2010. I was really looking forward to getting it until I read that it's not a 3D version that's out and none are planned in the near future. Since I'm miles and miles away from a cinema, do you guys think it's still worth buying the DVD even if the 3D effects are absent? I really want to see this and at the same time would hate to be disappointed.

I watched the movie in our local theater though the hall was a bit far from where we live.It was in 3D and I must tell that I was quite overwhelmed by the experience. It seemed that I was in the middle of all the actions that was going on. It was so realistic that I had to duck a few times when the huge birds came dashing right at me. The time when the dandelions are floating on the breeze was the best time of my viewing and that scene remains in my memory till now.

I would recommend the movie to be watched in a 3D environment only.

Kay, I would agree with fionasdesigns, that the movie would be best watched in 3D. However, I would say that if you can't view it in 3D, it is definitely still worth seeing.

I have seen over 5000 movies and stopped counting a long time ago. This movie is absolutely one of the most amazing movies I have ever seen. I usually don't like to use clichés, but this movie is breathtaking. I felt like I wanted to be there and not here (planet earth).

I think a movie like this with superior effects doesn't need to have any romance. Its not a love story, its a sci-fi computer generated graphics movie..
