The design of your forum looks both friendly and welcoming. I'd also agree that you need your own TLD, as this will make your forum much more professional in appearance and it will be easier for your members and visitors to remember the forum domain name. That will help with your word of mouth advertising.
With over 12,000 posts your forum is already doing quite well and has built up a good user base. How long has it been up and running?

EvanP, you have grown very well since then. It's worth remembering that forum growth is exponential which means that the bigger you are, the faster you grow. Having over 12,000 posts means that you are well on your way and it gives you a great advantage over someone with a new and empty forum.
By the way, are you a member of Forum Promotion (http://forumpromotion.net/index.php)? There are great resources there for promoting your forum and having it reviewed.
Another suggestion that I would make is that you might think about combining some of your forum sections. Having forum sections that don't have a lot of posts (i.e. with low post counts) can make your forum appear less busy than it really is. As an example you could combine your Rules and Announcements, New Ideas and Contact the Staff sections to create a new forum called something like "Help, Suggestions & Announcements" that we have here on BAF. This would mean that the first forums your visitors see on your site will have large post and topic counts, which gives your forum the appearance of being larger and busier. Obviously this is just a suggestion and I understand if you feel that it is not appropriate for your own forum.

Thanks for the ideas. :)
I may ask the members what they think... I think that would be the fairest way to do it.
Thanks again.
