Sports betting is not something that really interests me to be honest. I've placed the odd bet on a horse race, for the fun of it, but that's about it. Is betting something you do for fun or do you do it in the hope of a financial return?

I have done sports betting before, lost some money so now i have stopped doing it, though I do manage to bet small money when I’m pretty sure about a game.

I do some betting in Casinos on rare occasions - Though sports betting DOES intrigue me, I am too scared of losing my hard earned money on bets.

The only real winner in gambling is the bookie or casino owner. Gambling is a very profitable business and it is profitable because people lose money at it.

In the past I have seen the good and bad side of sports and casino betting. It is all about knowing how much you can afford to bet without getting yourself into trouble. I know limit myself to £5 each week, it used to be a lot more.
I like betting on football (soccer). usually just a £5 bet on 4 or 5 games to win anything from £35-100. So far this season I am about £150 in profit.
In the past (thankfully many years ago and not something I'd do again) I have bet large at online casinos. I was at one stage £2.5K in profit, but the problem with gambling is that you always go back for more and end up losing. Thankfully once I was down to about £200 profit I realised what I was doing and pulled the plug. I've bet as much as £1K on a single hand of roulette.
Coming from Windsor I used to go to the Windsor Race course and bet on the horses now and again. This can be a really good evening out. I always set up a budget of what I can spend for the whole time including drinks and food. Plenty of times I've gone home with no money left, spending all my money for the day, but there have been times when I've gone home with a full wallet and plenty of stories to tell.
If you are careful, then sports betting can be fun. If your not careful, they can be a real nightmare.

I also enjoy an occasional day at the races with friends and family. Like you Sean, I've sometimes made a profit but mostly it costs me money. However, it can be a really fun day out and I know that I enjoy it more because it is only very occasionally that I go - probably about once a year or even less.
Myself and some friends play the odd game of poker, Texas Holdem, for money. It's normally €20 per night, so the winner on the night can go home with a nice prize. Everyone gets their chance to win now and again, so it actually costs us very little and it makes for a very enjoyable and sociable evening.
I stay away from Internet poker and all other forms of Internet gambling, truth is I worry that if I started, I might like it too much and end up losing more than I can afford.
..I've bet as much as £1K on a single hand of roulette.
Aren't you full of surprises? :)

I guess it depends how good you are at picking games. If you aren't any good, you should give up on the idea now or look for more information on sports betting from

I don't like sports betting as I don't feel that it's decent and true and so on. I prefer soem other activities.
