Gift certificates and gift cards is becoming a multi billion dollar industry, and are you cashing in on this?

Digital gift certificates can be a promo code that takes X amount off of the price.

Paper ones can be included in your shipped orders.

loke, for the online world they are pretty much the same, but they can be for a a certain product or item.

I checked wiki and there is not much on it, it tells more of scrips.

How a gift certificate usually works is some one will buy it from you for, say, $20.00 and will give it to another person as a gift. The person that got the gift certificate will use that at your store, or business, for $20.00 worth of goods/services. You do not lose money, since the first person already paid you.

Consider them vouchers for pre paid products or services used to promote your business or as freebies to be given to loyal customers.

I like to give gift certificates to someone who has done me a favour or just as a present. They are generally offline stuff such as for restaurants or a hotel if it's a special present. They give good flexibility to the person receiving them.

One Irish company has been innovative in this area by getting buying in from lots of businesses and offering One 4 All gift vouchers (http://www.giftvouchershop.ie/) that can be used in huge number of Irish locations.

Well, actually gift certificates are a great prize for contests too. Didn't thought of that until i saw a few minutes ago a contest where the price was a 20$ amazon GC.
Great alternative to regular prizes(domain names/cash etc). Don't you think?

Yes, but with cash you run the problem with minors and their not being able to win it. Domains have a limited value for a person, say if I won a vulgar domain, what would I do with it?

Gift certificates have grown very fast. I remember when people would think about either giving someone $20 or buying a giftcard to Target. And all the major companies are doing it. I use them for gifts, but never buy them for myself. I rarely have a main store I shop at.

I would say that gift certificates can be really helpful if you're giving out in a business. You could get some feedback from them and etc. Gift certificates, I don't use to be honest. I would rather use cash. ;D I don't know why, but I guess it's just me. Haha. Well I bid you all good luck on buying or selling gift certificates. Thank you.
