Take example from http://twitter.com/buxtalk

it is getting Twitts from my forum automatic whenever new posts comes out , so its an easy way to get traffic as u know Twitter have more Page rank and more alexa rank then any other site so whenever someone search on net and if the thing is on ur site too Twitter will show ur forum twitts that way users can reach your site. That is only thing i know and that is why i am using.

Wait for more replies may be someone more experienced will show other way

Well, it depends on the genre of your website. If it's a tech related website then you may submit new tweets everyday so that all your followers are updated what's going on.

However, I am also not too familiar with twitter. Would like to hear some more responses.

First and foremost, I think you need to find a "real" followers. Try using twellow (http://www.twellow.com/)to get more followers. Find someone who have the same interest. Then put the URL of your site or blog in your Twitter profile. If your followers find all of your tweets interesting, automatically they will visit the link from you profiles to know you any further. Lastly, Be active and include some kind of Twitter/Tweet button on your site or blog content.

I'm still learning but this is some of the method that I use. Hope it helps. :)

Good suggestion there Simple. Thanks for sharing that with us. I also find using Twitter Search (http://search.twitter.com/) helpful for identifying people, who are discussing subjects I'm interested in. When I follow them a good proportion of them follow back.
