Do you do your own marketing or do you hire professionals to market your business? These days, it seems like there are good self-promotional materials available online, in software packages, and at local print shops if only a person has the time to work with the options. So far, I've been going it alone in terms of marketing. If you pay for marketing services, do you feel you've gotten a good return on this expenditure?

I rather like doing the promo work alone.I once pay someone for this and wasnt too tahnkfull with the results.
Not that the guy didnt do his work, but i had the feeling he could put a little more imagination and dedication into this.

Since I know how to do it, I would rather do it myself. Why let my skill be wasted? Plus, I can learn more by doing it myself.

i think you yourself should do that work because you know your business best. If yiou assign the owrk to another then he first has to learn what your business is and then start working on it. It will take you some time to learn how to promote and market a certain business but if you learn it once it will be beneficial for your other businesses as well and permanently removing the dependancy on any other person.

I think marketing should be done alone because you would know what products sell better, what did you do and how are you going to improve if the sales are low. If you give others to do the job, then you wouldn't know how's the entire thing works, which would be hard for you in the future if you want to change your business function.

I work alone, but that's because I'm an aspiring market advertiser. I tend to learn new strategies of advertising and it has been beneficial to me when I've actually put my skills and talents to work.
However, if you're not too confident in advertising yourself, it might be an ideal idea to hire someone to do that for you; preferably a professional.

I dont think marketing should be done alone.. Different people have different ideas, imaginations and suggestions.. They should be combined or a natural selection should happen on the ideas to implement...
I mean to say.. Even a large company will schedule a brain storming session for asking Marketing Ideas with their bonafide employees.. Every one suggest their own ideas, and finally everyone agrees with the best of them..
Outsourcing the marketing department is a good idea because, those ppl who provides these services are experts and perform better than what we can.. You can always combine your ideas with him.. You are the boss because you are the one who pays him..

A lot would depend on the size of your business. Many small businesses would do their own marketing and promotion because their business is based locally and they know their target customers / target market very well.
Larger businesses would often outsource to professionals, because they have economies of scale and larger budgets. This allows them for example, to hire a specialist advertising agency to create a TV advertising campaign that they would not have the skills or budget to do in-house.

Well I usually don't have a lot of cash, so I like to do the work myself. Maybe if I had some cash I would choose proffesionals, but I am doing ok by myself for now :)

i dont run any business but i would like to give my suggestion here in this post. well if a person is handling his business he should defined aware about his market to promote his service or product to make good money and there is nothing wrong also in doing marketing for his own business.

marketing can be done alone or with some of your friends too. after all you are the one who knows your product/services well. you don't lack imaginative skills, with your friends help, you can market your product easily and effectively!
