i would recommend that you try Tally (www.tallysolutions.com)
this is one of the best accounting solutions providing software with good services after sale! once you use it, there won't be a need for other softwares! :)
if you require freewares (free softwares) only, please specify!

This isn't specifically for accounting, however it is a great invoicing tool.

It can pretty much handle all of your income from an accounting perspective. Plus it is an excellent way to put all your customer billing on autopilot. I wrote an article about the advantages of using Freshbooks here:

most people in India use tally and it is easy to learn also. Tally has some of the best features.

Few invoicing tools that may be useful: LessAccounting, BlinkSale, FreshBooks. Otherwise, would say any advice you need, I would say take a read of SJD Accountancy's "Accounting for Freelancers" guide as they are super helpful.
