I was searching about search engines and found a new search engine, name Swoogle. You would be amazed of the name - Google And Swoogle.
You can view the site here - http://swoogle.umbc.edu/
It is a Search Engine for searching ontologies.
I think it won't be good in searching, and I was amazed that why it is not in Swoogle.com :D

It's not like Google. Only the design is similar. The search engine is very poor and the results also. I tried to find some 'ontologies' but no results :( . Someone can explain how does it work? :-?

I have to admit that I didn't know what "ontology" meant. The definition of "ontology" from dictionary.com is;
the branch of metaphysics (philosophy) that studies the nature of existence or being as such.
It's a very specialist search engine and not one that is useful for finding everyday sites. Personally I don't think it is something that I would use.

It's getting it's results from Google and also showing Google sponsored ads. Hence, the site creator will actually be earning Adsense revenue from it.

Swoogle..well going in little deep and taking this discussion a little to different direction...
Swoogle name resembles Google...Some times it is a marketing strategy employed by organizations to gain quick awareness & recognition in the market..A very good example can be of ALLEN COOPER.....which has combined the Brand name of two famous brands Allen Solly & Lee Cooper.....Although I don't think that this strategy will be useful for the SWOOGLE unless until they improve their technology and quality of results even while concentrating on ONTOLOGY niche....Google yields better results in the same category......:)

Thanks for sharing that with us. I notice that it uses aspx pages, does that mean you need Windows hosting in order to create a site with it?

I agree that this is an approach used by many companies to speed up brand awareness. However, I don't think it applies in this case. Swoogle is very much a niche search engine associated with a university site. Doesn't look like they are after huge popularity. But I could be wrong.

LoL. I have found lots of search engines like many other users. But there is no doubt, google has no compare. Yahoo is the second best.

Yes, Fergal. It requires windows hosting, it is not working on Linux I have checked that. Please share with us if you find a windows host and uploads it there.
