I'd look for guaranteed investments, i.e. savings schemes that are guaranteed not to go down in value, even if they were just savings accounts. I'd invest enough so that me and my family could live comfortably from the interest and have funds for a rainy day. Then I'd concentrate on using the remainder of the money to do charity work and endeavour to improve the lives of people less fortunate than me.

If i have 200mil i would divide in to two..one half is for myself and the other half is for spending...i would use the 100mil to help the poor, setting up my own foundation and bring a better life to the people in my country. Even though my country is developing very fast but still there are a few groups of people left behind especially in the remote area.

Are you really considering spending the other half to the poor?
No offense, but, when people reached their goals, they often forget their past ideas of helping the poor.

200 Million. You wouldn't have to do anything. Thats wnough money for a life time. However I would,
First buy a massive house,
Good car,
Best Internet connection,
Then I would go shopping.
I would still make my websites, I just love them so much. :)

I agree. Its very hard to be philanthropic if you're flushed with money. Personally, I'd use that money to a good cause too, but then money's temptation is very big.
My plan for the 200 million? Use it to invest in companies, or rather, start up a company and invest in profitable businesses. That way, the money won't run out and it will grow. I'll donate some of the profits to charitable organisations.
I don't see how I could use 200 million anyway. I don't intend to spend it or splurge it on luxurious items.

I am a single person and my monthly needs are very limited so what i will do with my 200 million is, i will put them in debt market where all the money will be given to large MNC's which will give good amount of interest on them.
Once my interest is coming, i will do only those things which my heart says. I will
1) all the novels which I skipped due to work pressure.
2) go to gym for an hour
3) play all the sports
4) go for shopping
5) direct a movie on my life

Well, with such a sufficient amount of money it would be smart to spend them on "land".Buy land, fields, even houses which actually rarely lose their value and if you make teh correct moves you can 3x the starting money.

Game of monopoly anyone?
Yes, I do suppose I agree. These investments will always be a good idea, maybe invest in some Internet websites as well.

Wow. That's sure a lot of amount. If you ask a businessman, what he will tell you is that to invest further and turn it into a million pound :D
For me, I would allocated about 60% for personal use, 20% for investment, 10% for savings and don't forget, 10% for charity. It is what makes us a true human being.

Wow, that's a very big amount! If ever, I will allocate half of it to our church for both ministerial and charity works (including a multi-purpose building where we will conduct our church services and activities and a bus for the transportation of our members from their homes to the building). Lots of our members came from very, very poor families so it would really do a lot at least in the education of their children. I will also put a school for the uneducated adults who can not read or write because they were not sent to school by their parents due to poverty. I want them to be able to not just hear the word of God from our pastors but read them in the Bible (this may include non -church members also).
I have many things going on in my mind but I will worry about the other half when I have it already. :)

oh!
That's great.
If I would have such big amount with me then I would have invested some part of it to secure my future.
With the remaining money I would have own necessary things in my life and at last some amount I would have given to charity purpose for sure.

Hmm. Nice to see someone is nice enough to actually say that they would give to charity. May I ask. What charity will you actually be willing to give to?

I would invest it into different companies, maybe start a new company myself. But otherwise, invest and hope to make more from it :)

I have no opinion what should I do with that 200 million. It is obviously hard for me to get even a dollar in my current job.
However, if I can get 200 million, I will invest it in assets or properties such as house, land and wait for two three years and sell it back.
Maybe I can get double or triple profits based on current prices

for all those thinking of giving the money to charity:
you only think of giving it to charity because the real money isn't there for you right now! When one gets hold of $200m first they would fill in their wishes, and then some safe for future and THEN "think" of giving the rest to charity!
FOR ME:
I will first fulfill my wishes/cravings for electronic gadgets!
would invest some in Stock market/gold/real estate.
keep some amount aside for emergencies.
Keep the rest of amount safe in Bank and use it for the purpose of HELPING THE NEEDFUL!

I actually don't like these "What if..." scenarios. In this case... "What if I had 200million dollars?"
I think it's better to ask the question "How to...". How to get 200million dollars? Only after I get that 200million dollars will I think what I'm gonna do with all that money hehe :)

What if scenarios can be motivating. 200 Million is out of most people's short term grasp. However, asking yourself "what could I do if I increased my income by 10%?" for example, can be motivating.

Yes, that's true in most cases. I guess I had a negative impression on this because of a old friend of mine who keeps asking all those impossible what if questions. I think I just got fed up with the questions. Thanks for correcting me on this.
To answer this question, What if I had 200million? What would I do with it? I guess I would leave 1million in the bank for emergencies. I'll invest 50million on gold. Invest 50million on commodities. I'll invest 50 million on property and the remaining 49million, I'll invest in business.
