It should be live by now! have you checked if it is indexed? try something like - info:www.website.com, and it should come up in google if it is indexed. However if it is not indexed, it could be due to a variety of reasons, have the site done anything illegal? or is the site history known, if it is a new registration, it should take 24 -48 hours to get indexed and maximum of 7 days.
Try submitting a sitemap to google ,that should get it indexed.

A very simple way to get Google to index your site quickly is to ad AdSense ads on it. I've found that Google bot crawls your site often that way as Gogle needs to show relevant ads to your visitors.

I'd echo that, once you add Adsense code to your site, Google are very quick to send their spiders to visit it. You can also submit your URL to Google here (http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl).
Have you checked to see if Google is already indexing your site? To check all you need to do is copy your full url into Google's search box and search for it. Here's an example (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=http://www.businessadviceforum.com&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=&aqi=).

Social bookmarking is one of the easiest and fastest ways to have your site indexed.
Making posts in popular forums also helps in getting indexed. Search engines are spidering popular forums multiple times a day. Search for forums related to your niche or main topic, join the ones with the most activity and start posting, with a link to your website in your signature.

There are literally books written on this topic.
The one thing that I would suggest is to try and get some relevant links from other established websites.

Use Google's Webmasters Tools and submit your site there. You have to verify it by adding a meta tag on your homepage then submit a sitemap for your site. Google will index your site after sometime.
