I came across this 40 minute video with a full text transcript last night at AllBusiness and thought it would be useful here. Since I have a slow connection I didn't take the time to download the video but the transcript was good! Thank goodness at least some websites remember we're not all on lightning fast connections.
If you scroll down the page, you'll see the transcript there in full. Enjoy! :)

What did you learn from it personally Kay?
I didn't view the whole video but I liked the concept of a business needing good sizzle (sales & marketing) coupled with good steak (the product or service you are offering).
If the steak isn't good, you won't have happy customers regardless of how good the sizzle is. However, your business won't survive if you don't have good sizzle and your potential customers don't know about you.

one thing I liked from this video & transcript is the theory that tells
amount of money spent by you in marketing & then no. of customers visit your shop...then no. of times they visit you again & again..purchase they made from your shop..do consider this while calculating total revenue!!!:):)

That's a big advantage online marketing has over traditional marketing. If you have a good stats service you can analyse exactly which ads are resulting in sales and how profitable or costly each ad is.

it is just another reminder that unless you are market savvy ,even if you have a good content or product to sell, it will not make much profit, so marketing is the key , to enjoy the fruits of success!
thanks for the share

As I have a slow connection and as I have a limited quotta per month I didn't see it all, but from the description I guess they are completely right; human resources is one element that is beneficial, because if you don't have people that do the specified meant job, then there wouldn't be a sales on the first place. Moreover, cash flow is very important, because a business holder should have an initial amount of money so that he can pay all the costs of his job resources. Most important of all is marketing, because if there's no advertising of your products/business then there would be no customers at all, and thus your business will fail.
They are really very beneficial and important for every business man/woman.

Proper marketing strategies will go a long way to help you through the hard times. People still spend money, you just need to show them where to spend it.

Welcome to the Business Advice Forum royhunters. Hope you enjoy your stay here.
I've just watched the video and I especially admire what Kevin Cummerford did for his small business Service Champions. He's absolutely on target when preaching to their team members all the time that they've got to not only be the sizzle, but they've also got to have the steak. The sizzle (marketing) will bring in more customers and the steak (good service) will make your customers stick with you to eternity and beyond. :)
